Sponsoring a kid

For manys years I have seen ads and some documentaries about sponsoring a kid abroad. Well the New Year is here and its something I want to chase up. The old 'cynic' in me however, lends me to think there may be some scams out there so was wondering if anyone here does this?

Id like to think that the little id give each month will actually find its way to helping someone needy (or a community)

Even though I am sceptical about things like these you would think the most famous of the companies aren’t scamming people.

So I would say just make sure you go for a big one if you do.

We did it some years back in our school class. I did this in Norway tho but I believe the company here in the UK is called Save the Children. Either way we received pictures and letters from the people who were there to take care of them and had reports about the progress. It might have all been a sham with just placing the kid into the pictures but I hope it wasn’t!
