Sports you'd remove from the Olympics

Archery! At least have moving targets or something.

Chav Olympics:

Archery and shooting - chavs run, olympians fire / shoot

Cycling - chavs cycle around the track on their crap BMXs, olympians shoot / fire at them

Im sure i could think of more if i bothered?

Javelin - chavs run, javelin throwers try to pin them
Long jump - 10m pit of fiery doom, chavs have to jump it to move onto next exercise

Why can't they just have 1 swimming event- they're all the same anyway.... and that way it would stop this Phelp-mania that's currently doing the rounds!

Following that reasoning, we could get rid of all but one cycling event and all but one running event, the whole olympics would be over in three days.

I see a pattern forming here...........

definitely agree with the donkey jumping. it's on tv now and is rubbish. :p

and although i wouldn't actually like to see the women's discus and shot put removed, they should have conditions on entry. you know what i mean..... :D

Don't get me started on Phelps. As Steve Ovett said in the BBC studio, swimming is the only sport which lends itself to participating in lots of events. Let's face it, the strokes aren't that different and if you're good at one of them then you're likely to be good at the others.

Yes Phelps is a phenomenal swimmer but calling him the "greatest Olympian" as a result of him obtaining more gold medals than anyone else is offensive to the likes of Steve Redgrave, whose Olympic achievements far exceed that of Phelps IMO.

As for the "donkey jumping" :D, whilst I agree it's rubbish I do accept many people like it. My point is that it's not an Olympic sport as far too much depends on the horse.

100m
100m Relay
110m Hurdles
200m
400m
400m Relay
400m Hurdles
Long Jump

Are all within the scope of a good sprinter to compete in in one Olympic games.Yet no one has come close as far as I am aware.I would say this is what someone in athletics would have to achieve to match Phelps.

Of course he is likely to be good at other stokes, just like a 100 sprinter is bound to be pretty good at 200 and good at the long jump, but it's another thing altogether to be the best in the world at all of them.

Not even close, if you've ever been involved in athletics you'd know that hurdles are a completely different ball game compared to a sprint, and that the 400m is nothing like the 100m and 200m.

As for the long jump, how many people have been successful at that as well as running? Carl Lewis.... not many others I'd guess, again because is completely different from the other events.

The similarity of swimming events cannot be compared to track & field.
