Sportsmen?

Having just read (didn't see any of it) the BBC Sport report about the Argentina/Germany match:

Bierhoff said: "Fans have shown they can get on with each other. We should be able to do the same as sportsmen."

Sportsmen! ..... ffs! .... that is the very last term I would use to describe professional football players.

Oxymoron springs to mind.

Maybe I'm just an old cynic .....

Urrm they are men and the very top of their sport, sounds like a perfect definition to me. Of course, they are not all examples of people playing the game in the spirit it is meant to be played in, but it's the same in all sports.

The players dream of playing in the World Cup Final the Aregentine players grew up seeing Maradona win the World Cup, 4 years, 1460 days, 35000 hours it takes to get to another World Cup, somthing was said humans reacted, simple.

I know what its like to loose a 5 a side match and I somtimes want to bash the other team in at the end.

yes cheets, thats very true, when your so worked up for a major game, a big disapointment like losing to penalties is a big come down, something very small can anger players in that state :/

I posted it here because it was sports related.

I was hoping that the more civilised readers would maybe agree with my observation or not, as the case may be.

As for trying to make people dislike me; For some reason, I appear to have achieved that with you already; maybe you should add me to your ignore list instead of resorting to personal attack.

I dislike you because this isn't the first time you've posted such a thing purely to get a reaction.

You know, 100%, that there's a lot of footy fans in here. Probably more now than ever. Did you honestly expect the reaction to be 'yeah, you're right'?

Maybe you should go watch crown green bowling and leave the real sports to passionate fans.

hes not the only person who posts things to get a reaction. i had a few members on ignore for this reason, one of them was a MOH ;]
