'Ola!

We bought me dad a squeezebox for his birthday. It's a brilliant piece of kit, however my dad is a bit of an audiophile, although not an extreme one, and after a couple of hours of listening he noticed that the bass was missing quite a lot from the MP3's, compared to the CD's...Infact the difference was so big, I could tell what it was!

We're now looking at buying an external hard drive and encoding the CD's in something other than 192 MP3. What would you recommend? I'm looking to try and get some ooomph back in the bass, but obviously I would like to try and reduce the music size in some way. I suppose I'm after some kind of middle ground. What would people recommend? The squeezebox will play the following formats: Click Here

Cool, thanks for that, We'll give Flac a shot! Fini, I very much doubt it is the other kit, It's a musical fidility setup. The cables alone, he uses, cost £100! Even on my very basic stereo with rather poor amp and leads, I can notice the difference.

Out of curiosity, what does an SB+ entail?
