Sri Lanka v England Test Series *** Spoilers ***

No it wouldn't. It wouldn't change much from what there is currently except when a review is called and the 3rd umpire consulted that the onfield umpires can make either type of call.

How would it get to the Third Umpire? As is stands, the players must make a review for it to go upstairs. In the example you gave the rugby ref makes the decision to review when he isn't certain of the call, that isn't the case in cricket, the umpire is assumed to be correct until proven otherwise.

Not the way it works though. The call is referred by the players. Therefore the umpire's decision stands unless the third umpire can prove otherwise with conclusive evidence.

The only problem I have with DRS is the consistency in equipment that should be sorted out by the ICC. Everything else I think is fair and really don't understand all the complaints. Aggers seemed to be quite surprised by the Dilshan decision, I think it was the correct one from a DRS perspective. If the umpire gave him not out it would have stayed not out. I do think he was not out, but the evidence was not conclusive against the umpire's original decision.
