I'm trying to summarise scenarios where buying an SSD is the right thing to do - as a means to decide whether to buy one or not.
1. You need a new PC
2. Your HDD just died, so you need to replace it
but where does this one fit in...
3. Your PC is fine, but you know an SSD is better.
you start bringing other things into it, like...
a. Can you spare the money
b. What's the rest of the spec
c. How long do you plan on keeping the rig for
d. What is your current HDD performance like
e. How much do you want to upgrade
well, if those answers are...
a. yes
b. see sig
c. 2 more years
d. okay, but slow after startup
e. slightly annoying hdd performance, but not rly that bad
would you do it?
if your answer is yes.. would you get a SATA II drive, or SATA III drive - assuming your mobo is SATA II.
