We've got two Samsung 840 Evo 1TB SSDs that have been sitting on a shelf for a couple of weeks. Prior to this they would have been tested (Samsung Magician) and then wiped (not sure which program was used to wipe them)..

I've just gone to plug them in a server and they aren't detected either in the BIOS or in RAID adapters.

I've tried two different motherboards and two different RAID adapters, not detected in either.

Pretty sure they're dead, but how can this happen?

have you tried a different sata cable? may sound silly but thought I would throw it out there.

are you having the same issue with both SSDs?

what raid controller, i know y dell r720 doesnt see ssd's over 500gb on the perc 6 card or on the mobo. and it gets even worse with Hdd's over 2tb.
id try them on a normaly pc. server hardware is picky and has certified drives ect.

LSI 9271-** and Adaptec 6405-E. We have 840 Evos on these adapters in other servers and no issues.

The SSDs aren't being detected by the same server that was used to test/format them.

are you able to connect them to a standard sata port on the mobo and see if they are detected?

Yep, have tried that.
