St. Albans or Milton Keynes

St. Albans is a nightmare for traffic. Trying to get in and out at rush hours is always a giant headache. The town itself is nice though, bits of it are too "up itself" for its own good imo. Schools are good if thats important for you.

The shopping is better in Watford, a mere stones throw away. Connections, both road and rail are good, and will be better if the tram to Watford Junction ever becomes a reality!

Having lived in MK i would suggest it has benefits from modern Americanised shopping and entertainment. The road system is very functional. The houses in the new builds are awful but in the little villages are very pretty (but pricey).
Pretty sure they have problems with high speed internet in the town due to aluminium wires instead of copper. They wanted a south Korea super wifi system instead though i left to Bedford (don't even ask) before that really mattered.
Crime in MK is just down to the lowlifes that inhabit every town. Lots of them in the town and quite funny. One day my mate and i were walking through town and a black lad came bombing past us. My mate said he must have nicked something to be running like that. I replied you cannot say that, its racist, 15secs half of MK police come running past us in pursuit!

St Albums is a roman town and hence so is its layout and general age etc. Lovely place to visit and bring up a family. This would be my choice because i would like the easy link to London and Heathrow for holidays.

I grew up in Milton Keynes and went to uni near st albans. I've been out and about in st albans I think its a pretty boring place with a 'average' shopping center and massive traffic troblems. MK isn't the most exciting, but has more going for it.

St Albans hands down tbh.

MK is a souless duelcarriagewayroundaboutgrid. Cracking shopping centre and area around there, but that's about it. Also pretty chavvy I find especially on a saturday night around the Xscape area where mood and oceana are.

Pubs in st albans are great and there are loads of great places to eat. Bar 62 with their x2 burger meals for £10 really is something special, especially as the burgers and chips are up there with the best I've ever had.

St albans isn't great for cars though and this can be seen during the am and pm rush hours. Still, amazing location, 19mins from st pancras by train and just lovely. Am actually considering moving down there once the job situation in January is resolved (If I'm still in London) as the mrs currently resides there and I spend a good 2/3 evenings/days a week there....Can't stop saying there :p
