Hi i hope you guys can help me out here im in a bit of a tiz

Ok my english is poor at best but i will try to explain where i am.

I currently own a 2007 ST2 with full Dreamscience stage 3 mods for everyday use.
Also ive started doing some trackdays this year so i got myself a nice 50k miles clio 172 cup.(i have had to spend about 3k on this car to get it driving right for me.new Seats,Wheels,Brakes,Shocks and springs and steeringwheel, uprated engine mounts. All original parts have been kept so could soon go back to standard.......

The problem is since ive done this ive lost all respect-interest in my focus because im having so much fun with the clio i dont see the point in owning it anymore it just feels heavy and dead in my hands.but also i dont realy want to be left with an 8 year old clio for my daily driving.

also the focus fuel problem with current fuel prices dont help altho this is not a big problem to me.

I only plan to go to my local Race track more often than not about once per month (Cadwell Park)

With my new found love for all things French i have started toying with the idea of a brand new RS200 clio Cup to replace both cars.

I have found an online Dealer that will supply this car to me with Recaros, and some other small options for 15k

Then im thinking i will have a car thats New much better on fuel than the focus and somewhere near my 172 cup on the track.1 insurance premium ect ect

But will i miss the Focus when its gone or is it just a waist of money now my lifestyles changed.

Or do i just keep both my current cars or............Grrrrr lol please help

The RS200 is a fantastic car, it will feel a lot more tighter and solid than the 172, but also much more refined, which means they don't feel as quick, and tbh, they are barely any quicker round a track than a 172 cup. A 172 with uprated breaks and suspension would eat a 200. If you are bored of the ST and prefer driving the 172 for spirited driving, why not sell the ST, get something mundane for every day, and then take the 172 out when you feel like it :)

The Megane is quite a bit quicker around a track than a 200.

Not get something like a Megane F1 Team instead?

Yes all good points guys.

I have been looking at the megane yes i just cant make my mind up lol.

Im so impressed with the 172 cup and lots of people in many differant cars have come up to me at Cadwell amazed at the cars ability under braking and cornering it realy is a little diomond.
just a shame it losses ground on the straits or i would be setting lap records :) lol i wish(supercharger anyone)

Main problem is running 2 cars seems so silly but it might be the only way to do things.unless i can find a car that will do both jobs better than my current two can service my needs as a pair for around the same value in £s

And the fact along with the wifes car 3 cars on the drive dont look great if im honest.

Id keep the 172 as you know its good now and sell the ST and buy something to use daily.

Means you can have buckets/harness track pads, DS3000 or similar and it will be fine, can go no compromise then.

Then buy a better daily car?

Id recommend trying the Megane Renaultsport dci 175, but last time I looked the prices were stupid compared to the petrols so any fuel saving is swallowed straight away, and would want remapping for more power too.

If you get all of your giggles from the French POS (:D) then it seems senseless to continue running the ST. But you're somewhere close to the situation I wish I was in - I've just sold my ST for a 1.6 Focus, and have since picked up a 182. If I could have afforded to keep the ST for family duties, I almost certainly would have.

That said, that depends if you would have a problem with driving something dull every day.

Beyond that, test drive a 200 and see if you could live with it both on track and every day. I wouldn't have any issues taking one to a track once a month.

I do get all the kicks i need from the french POS (Have to agree)but i dont think i could ever have a normal car as a daily thats the biggest problem in all this.

Think i will Test drive the 200 and maybee a megane R26 F1 and the R26R see how i feel after that.

Untill then im going to just stick with what i have and see how it pans out as i dont want to make a mistake and regret it.

altho i do have to sleep tonight and i will change my mind in the morning lol

i honestly cant remember ever having such an anoying choice to make.thats kinda why im heading towards doing nothing atm i think.

I do like the 135i idea but think that car me and a track day will only end in tears to be honest lol......

Keep the 172 cup, get yourself a mondeo for day to day tasks.

Save money, more comfort, and the 172 can have more spinebreaking bits chucked on :)

I personally wouldn't want to run 1 car as a track/normal day to day car combined, purely for the reason that although 4 out of 5 times it'll be fine, it'll be that other time that either the brakes are totally shagged (currently struggling with warped discs/pad deposits on my megane after some track sessions or sometimes just spirited road driving, 3rd set of discs in a year about to be ordered!) or a mechanical problem of some sort, or worst comes to worst, a prang on track (very rare and highly unlikely but it's still a possibility).

The 200 will be a lot better on track than the 172 but given the rapid rate that you can get through consumables, the 172 with it's smaller tyres, brakes etc will be a lot cheaper/able to get much better stuff for the same price as the 200, plus both will be just as much fun as each other.

I'm jealous that you're about to blow £3,000 on a 172 that you track, despite complaining about fuel prices! Then you're contemplating the idea of buying a much newer car! Am very confused.

If it was me in your current situation, I'd keep the Focus for every day (maybe change it for something a bit more refined and comfy, and keep the 172 Cup). I'll personally be inclined to get an older Clio Sport but too late now. Hope you enjoy the new Cup.

ok guys after a few days in the dealers ive just put a deposit on a 08 Megane 230 F1 Team R26 in px with my St its cost me 1k for the changeover very happy with that.

Still got the clio until ive lived with the megane for a few weeks but then it might be time to sell up and strip all the performance parts.
Also im going to strip the parts From the ST in the next week before it goes to the dealer.

This money should pay for the stage 2/3 parts on my new car.....

Thanks for all the input guys ill let you know how i get on.
