ST220 - first impressions/mini-review

Is that for real? Is an ST220 really that much of a sight that it induces any reaction what so ever? Oh and if anyone quotes Clarksons "rarer than an Aston Martin" I'll eat my own face

I'll admit that I take a second look when I see these out and about, they are very nice cars - particularly in the blue.

Only an extended look mind, not sure it warrants or furthermore whether the owner would appreciate some chav gaylord in an ironing board wagon in full windowlicker mode.

I nearly got 33mpg doing Bristol to Oxford the other day but then I got a bit carried away on some country roads and it dropped to 30....

I'll make it one day!

To be fair the car is extremely cheap to run really, like said earlier the only real cost is the tyres. Servicing is dead cheap, the cars seem pretty bullet proof and economy isn't that bad for the performance. (You just have to resist pushing that little pedal on the right so much.... )

But then, I dont like Mondeo's. I do like the heated front windscreen but that's it.
Mondeo's make a good workhorse sort of car, but that's it imo. Too common and plain looking. Then turn to rust buckets. I dont yet understand why they are so popular?

Because I ask why Mondeos are so popular?
It is in fact an honest question. I have driven mondeos for work etc and as the odd car to drive while mine is in service/MOT and I have test driven the ST220. I can not think of a single compliment to pay them apart from the heated windscreen which was awesome!

Please explain why they are always so strongly recommended. I am genuinely interested.

Rust?

I have one the first ST220's and there is not a single spot of rust anywhere.

Your not comparing an ST220 with an insignia VXR are you? It's a much newer car and ford don't really having anything that competes with it.
