Our former Yates became Aprés for a few years. Saw it all boarded it up in September and now it has signs on the wall saying that the building is being developed into a 'Spoons. Stafford's a bit small for 2 of these isn't it? Plus, all the nightlife is where the existing 'Spoons is, so I can't see this new one doing as well?

nightlife + stafford.....does not compute

oh wait, there was that new million pound or whatever club round the corner from spoons a couple years ago.....how's that going along?

Haha, gotta agree with you Alastair. Yeah you wanna go to Birmingham for proper dance clubs. We only have generic cheese up here in Stafford.

The new million pound club? Do you mean the Club Couture re-fit that used to be Zanzibar/Colosseum/Top of the World? No one's dragged me to the latest incarnation yet, but I heard it's doing well. Have been there as Colosseum / Zanzibar though. Colosseum was great, big dance floor, lots of scope for lighting effects. Zanzibar was pants, as they plonked a bar in the dance floor and did away with most of it, pushing dancers to the back of the venue. I hear that Couture has gone back to Colosseum layout now with the dancefloor.

Ah i remember now. I went to Couture last xmas. They actually did a nice job. It's quite big inside with 3 main areas. I also went to the club when it was Colosseum when i was 17 and a couple times when it was Zanzibar. Brings back fond memories. The sticky carpets, the sweet smell of fart and vomit, the swanky letters behind the bar with the words "plethora of...." something or other i forgot (I actually learnt the word "plethora" from that club), the fights, people thinking they were "ard", oh and the women, wow,......just wow.

I may even go again this xmas if i'm not in London.

You're getting a new michelin star restaurant and high class winebar/nightclub as well.

Is that the old Post Office that's currently being done up? I knew of the winebar/restaurant bit, didn't know about the nightclub element though.

@cheets64 - yeah I know, big wow / cool story bro etc. There are a few Stafford kids on here though as OcUK is local.

Wetherspoon's are great. The alcohol is well priced, the selection is very big and it's the only reliable place to get a pint of ale. I'm all for more Wetherspoon's. We have two within 40 second walk of each other and I'm not even joking!

I believe so, they plan on having a late lounge/nightclub area from what I've been told.

Meh, Cheltenham has two Spoons as well.

Once the new one was built, the old one just stuck with its original name *Moon under the water" :-/

the alcohol in weatherspoons tastes like crap (unless bottled and them some of that is bad too)

its all close to end of life hence the price
