Stamps up 20%

Royal Mail, yet another example of a British institution with Aged management failing to move with the times.

Can anybody explain to me why the post office still does not have self service machines, and why its necessary to pay a wage to a dodgy migrant worker to print off a label and give you the correct change.

In my opinion, the post office is the perfect example of where self service machines would be useful.

But alas, this is England. We put retirement age people in management and wonder why they are befuddled by technology.

Post office needed this rise something like 5 years ago, with everything getting much more expensive they cannot afford the service they operate with things like petrol becoming even more expensive :(

Mine in St Albans has one, I turn up with my bag of pennies, avoid the queue and put my random letters in the box or packages down at the parcel in bit without wasting my own time.

/Anti-England fail :p

So you are telling me that somebody will collect a document I've posted from a box near my house, take it to a depot, sort it, put it on a plane or a truck, drive it to the other side of the country, sort it again, put it on a van and personally deliver it to the house of my choice?

And all they want to charge for this is... 60 pence?!

Awaits the *60p isn't bad if they could be bothered to deliver my post to me and not lose it* crowd

An increase has been needed for some time.

I recently sent some small parcels from a local Post Office (self service for the guy who said you couldn't) and was surprised at how cheap it was.

Seems cheap to me. I probably post about 1 letter a year that doesn't have a pre-paid envelope. At least email is still free:)

I think moaning about stamp prices is just something people have picked up from their parents and grand-parents. A bit like when people exclaim that they wouldn't buy a washer-drier. It's a kind of hear-say to them. Cars 'losing' money, that kind of thing. People just say it because they hear it.
