Hi all.

Whilst watching Star Trek this evening on my computer, I noticed that no audio was coming out of my Rear Right and Rear left speakers.

I then tested the speakers in the Control Panel and they were working fine.
When watching other films they work fine.

It is a Blu-ray that i was watching.

Any tips to sort this out?

Thanks
Jack

What are you playing back the film in? Codecs, Player? Does this happen only for blu-rays?

Edit: Too late.

Edit2: Actually, we still need to know what you're playing it with :)

Not sure how the Creative drivers work but have you selected 6 channels in Vista? You have to manually select it if I recall, it doesn't work like XP. Here's how I have to do it in the ASUS drivers.

If thats the Power DVD that came with the drive, then I think you are stuck with the 2 channel version. They basically want you to upgrade to the full version.

I got a LiteOn blu-ray drive with Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 a few weeks ago and it too was only allowed to play 2 channels (was using a Xonar DX sound card btw). However, it did give me the option to upgrade to full PowerDVD 9 Ultra for *only*$50. Not a bad deal, but a bit of a rip if you think you are getting all the software you need with the drive.

That said, Cyberlink Power DVD 9 is actually pretty good. It supports 5.1 sound (as you would expect), but crucially it integrates with windows 7 Media Centre - which is very nice for HTPCs.

Yes but all of my other Hd-dvds, blu rays, and normal DVDs played through the same software play in 5.1

Do you know of any free software that will play hd dvds and blu rays then?
