Star Trek Online

Foundry whats this foundry? Everytime I come by this thread there is something new :(

We can now make our own missions :D - use generated content ***!

I disagree that Klingons are OP in PvP. They are just more coordinated as they ave had more practice.

I can't wait for season 3, it is going to be great. For those of you who haven't played in a long time, now is a great time to return. I have and am really enjoying it.

Omg! Like.. er.. how?!? Any linky to explain? I tried to get into EVE but just a bit of mind job playing that game (although I may come back to it one day).

STO was simple but entertaining... maybe I should come back :)

Ah cheers JGBR.
Doesnt this mean users could create really easy missions and award themselves a shedload of XP etc? Or do these need to be authorised by Cryptic?

No cryptic saw that one a mile of.

Mission "hard ness" will be tallied against what rank you are at the time.

It keeps it fair and stops people cheating by getting 10,000 XP For destroying an unarmed freighter (for instance LOL).

It's still in beta, so it could all change again but its going to expand with time.

for the time being, its set up a mission, get XP related to rank and keep you busy and take the workload of cryptic.

Hmm thats fair I guess, but seems a bit of a cop out by Cryptic not to design missions. Then again, maybe the STO community can create better missions? Who knows.

Well the debate rageing is that Cryptic have lots of work in more major areas then having to direct resources to doing missions to keeping people intrested and playing. Handing that job over to players takes the pressure so they can focus on bigger issues such as economny, graphics etc etc.

The problem orginally being that their was not enough missions to keep people intrested, this should solve that problem.

It's coming along nicely but then rome wasn't built in a day!

Cryptic are still designing missions. There is a Breen and Devidian series with another due in January. The Foundry will just help populate the galaxy a little more. Plus they have been busy with lots of other stuff, as you will see in Season 3 (due on the 9th December).

Whats happening for Season 4, do we know yet?

I'd rather cryptic focused on the core sto now. The users can take up the slack.

No idea. They have talked about opening up borders and redoing ground combat - I think we will still get the weekly series, but there will certainly be a focus now on the game mechanics.

So is this game actually getting an economy then? I played towards the end of the beta and for about a week after launch and haven't looked near it since.

Apparetnyl the economy is starting to kick of now and will be further boosted with season 3.

I'm not sure whats on peoples wish lists for the future, to me, it seems the bulk of it is being sorted, lots of the other things are little things really.

According to the devs the new ground combat may not be too far away from tribble. The rumour mill is hard at work and saying that the new ground combat changes will be like a recent Champions Online mod which basically turned it in to a Mass Effect third person shooter. You auto target the guy nearest your targeting reticule and fight with WASD and mouse, left click being main weapon and right click being alternate fire. Certainly wouldn't complain if it was similar to the Mass Effect combat system!

Yes that would be handy and great but also being able to go 1st person when walking around the starbase etc etc would add a lot more RPG To it.

However it might make team orders etc abit difficult. But the rumour mill goes on.

Lets get foundry out the door first!

Apparently all of it is going to be rolled out

But

Im not sure foundry is. Beta has only been going a few days and some big errors are popping up, so im not convinced that will appear quite yet.

Lots of the missions people are writing are good but not very canon or believable.
