Star Trek Online

Still struggling to rank up :(

At Lt Commander 8 at the moment and Commander seems a long way off :(

Any tips on ship config and missions that have a good return of points ?

I have a cruiser with Mark IV phasers front and rear with a Mark IV Photon torpedo launcher front and plasma torpedo launcher rear

Loving the ship Captain

Now that I have crafting maxed out, let me know if you need better items - it doesn't take much effort (or many anomalies) to get blue (or even sometimes purple) gear. You should all check this out yourselves too. Crafting is now very overpowered, but we may aswell use it :p

All I can suggest is to do story missions, then patrol missions and then either deep space encounters or exploration missions. If you see me online, I am happy to team with you to speed you through a few missions (in particular patrols).

I can always use better items Captain ;)

Been doing some reading on crafting so will make an effort to follow some of the advice ;)

In the meantime I will continue on my merry way and keep doing the missions :D

Will give you a shout when I see you online

I should be on later.

The best way to quickly level crafting is with red anomalies and by making power cells, shield charges, schematics etc. until you can make what you need. Also, decide early on what type of weapon you want to use e.g. quantums, photons, phasers, disruptors and focus on those with both your skill points and items. I personally use phasers and quantums leaving skill points for other abilities - other weapons like antiproton don't have enough advantages over phasers to make them worthwhile.

As of yesterday I had never touched crafting (but had kept lots of anomalies). I just went to memory alpha and tried it out - it is pretty easy to get the hang of.

Commander at last :D:D

Now I have the choice of an advanced heavy cruiser for 137000 , do I get this and also can pick a heavy escort or science vessel ?

Any tips on outfitting my new ship ? Weapons etc ?

Usually Engineer's use Cruisers, Tactical's use Escort's and Science types use the Science ships. Although some other combinations work well.

Just remember that if you change ship type, that you need to respec your skill tree to make the best use of your skill points.

You are a tactical captain right? I would suggest an escort. Of course, the time you are ready for your next ship you will easily have enough credits to try out all 3 ship types ;)

I have a respec token but don't know who to talk to or what it does , DOH :(

There is someone at the center of Earth Space Dock.

You can't I don't think, but doesn't mean you can't captain other ships. You can respec the points into the areas you need though, but you'll always be a tactical base character.

Correct, you would have to start a new captain for such a change. Tactical is the best choice though :)

You still playing VaderDSL?

Just started to get my crafting rank up as well now. Up to 800 before I ran out of anomalies. Just on the look out for the rare ones you need to the crafting set. As the Sovereign looks great with it.

Keep an eye out on the exchange too - prices are falling rapidly on all anomalies. Before long the market will be saturated, that is your time to buy :)

Absolutely, a lot has changed and been improved. (Read a few pages back to see a few things that have changed). If you do decide to sub, be sure to go to g2play so you essentially get 60 days instead of 30 for the same price :)

I've had Cruisers mostly as a tactical although I have bought escorts that I can swap over to easily.

If you have time, try to have a character of every branch.

I think this Crimbo is a good chance before foundry comes out to get housekeeping done on your accounts etc

Anybody playing STO over xmas?

I've just deleted some of alt char and started them again.

Also 20% off at C store, so bought some more Char slots.

I was on a lot a few days ago, but am playing Alpha Protocol at the moment. I reached 85 millions ECs plus a full set of Aegis/Borg equipment and decided it was time for a break!
