I'm tempted to get this on blu-ray as I've never really watched it, but is it good?
Placed in it's original time-frame it was outstanding, it was first aired in the mid 60's when the staple diet on TV was westerns the likes of Bonanza, Gunsmoke, the High Chaparral with light comedies like MR Ed, and the Munsters being popular. I suppose the closest thing to it would have been Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, or The Man from Uncle.
The stories and plot lines are typical of the day, high drama with leading man and side kick, but StarTrek developed it's characters way better than most. it was one of television's first multiracial casts, and the first televised multiracial kiss. (Uhura & Kirk)
I was born in the early 60's, so I watched first time round and thoroughly enjoyed every episode. The new DVD's have been digitally remastered so should be even better than the first time around
By today's standards it's a little dated, with a touch of the drama queen about it, but all the more entertaing because of it.
(showing my age now, didn't need to Google any of that... LOL)
