Hi Guys

Its official Lucas Arts have released a teaser trailer for a new Force Unleashed Game... The link to the video is here:

http://www.starwars.com/video/view/000923.html

Personally ive got mixed feelings about this, yes the trailer looks impressive but the first game was a complete dissapointment with its ridiculously lousy levels and the fact that it completley missed its own point... The central premise of the game being your overpowered and use the force in a unique way, never done by a jedi.... yet every jedi/sith you meet is infinatley more powerfull and destructive than you are.....

So how do you guys feel about this?

Yea can't wait. The first one had flaws but I still loved it, was kinda like Star Wars mixed with God of War.

I enjoyed the first, was a fun rental. They need to fix a LOT for the sequel. Your lightsaber shouldn't be **** for starters and you shouldn't spend half the game being knocked to the floor by EVERYONE ELSE.

Agreed the lightsaber in this was a stick you had to beat them to death with. There is no bigger Sw fan than me and as a cannon fan this was **** beyond belief.

One of the most dissapointing games i've ever played in comparison to Jedi academy and Kotor.

I hadnt realised I had already posted in this thread - must be losing my mind :D

Otherwise I agree - Jedi Academy was great as were a few of the earlier games when LucasArts actually wrote them (wasnt Unleashed actually done by some other s/w house?)

Havent been impressed by a Star Wars game for years unfortunately :(

I would like to see a new Star Wars films (preferably a RPG) where the main character isn't (and doesn't become) a Jedi. However I don't think that will ever happen again :(

LucasArts will never release an epic Star Wars game again... sorry guys but the glory days are gone. Those of us in our late twenties, hug your old copies of TIE Fighter, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight, KOTOR etc and be glad that you were once part of something special.

Unfortunately you speaketh truth.

I was surprised when I saw this thread, I never thought LucasArts would have went further with Force Unleashed. When I think of it a little further... its not actually a good thing either IMO. I mean it shows you that their idea and direction for future Star Wars games isn't in the likes of the classics that everyone loves, but broken, high production and generally crap gameplay products that are easily forgettable.

You just know that Force Unleashed 2 will be the same as the first with a few fixes in terms of gameplay (nothing radical) and more flashiness, more grandeur and yet be just as short. The lightsaber problem will remain because its the mechanics of the gameplay. Annoyingly frustrating.

Also anyone heard anything about Battlefront 3? I know the dev team in charge of it went bust, but wasn't it close to completion? Surely they're not going to give up on it... :( Out of all the newer Star Wars franchises, Battlefront was the best by far.

I for one loved the force unleashed (and I thought I would hate it from the footage shown prior to release) I thought the combination of saber combat and force powers was the best in any jedi knight game. Play jedi knight academy now and see if you disagree with me.

Plus the story was ace as were the graphics. Only flaw I found was the QTE's, but that is not something that only this game can be accused of, and probably just me - others may like them.

I will really look forward to this one me thinks.

Yes, they need to dump the QTE's.

Other things that need improving.

The main fellas movement needs to be more fluid.
He needs to be able to grab on to the edge of ledges and the like.
His destructive power needs to be increased, either he is one of the most powerful beings in the universe, with lightning fast reflexes that verge on precognitive abilities in combat, or he isnt. He cant be hurling tie fighters into groups of storm troopers one minute, and getting floored by a fat bloke with a pointed stick the next.

Bigger levels and more of them.

More enemies.

First one was fun, not quite as good as it could have been but still a good game. Plus it's Star Wars which makes it awesome anyway. Looking forward to this :)

I really enjoyed this last Chrimbo - even on the Wii. It'd be great if they do a version using Motion Plus. The motions didn't even feel forced (fnarr fnarr).

I'll have a dilemma if it's on the Wii now I have a PS3.

I agree with the comments about being weak. In a world where jedis are supposed to be uber elite. And in a game where you're supposed to be playing a Jedi with powers superior to all jedis that have come before. How is it, Every level see's you coming up against people with superior strengths, and the ability to kick your ass.

But surely if the character was all-powerful it would mean that killing all enemies would be a breeze making the game pointless?

*Walk into chamber*
*Do 'vader-throttle-pinch'*
*All enemies fall down dead*

Game Over

:D

He was supposed to be a fairly weak jedi wasn't he? Not as strong as Vader for sure! For example the first Jedi you go to kill Vader actually says in the FMV beforehand something along the lines of "I don't expect you to survive...". The whole point was that you were getting stronger through the game. The enemies and bosses just got harder as the character got stronger, otherwise it would have just been too easy! . How this will work in the second game I'm not sure.. since all the training and abilities are complete.

I found it disappointing because I was naively expecting Jedi Knight II but from the 'naughty side' of the force + shinier graphics.

I'm sure I could enjoyably complete the game if it wasn't for one pet hatred : the lightsabre is a vat of excrement.

If they changed the game so that a lightsabre swish through the torso was lethal / limbs could be chopped off etc then great... at present the lightsabre might as well be a curtain pole that one has to repeatedly 'doink' enemies over the head with before eventually knocking them out.

edit: perhaps 'curtain pole' is a little harsh... a 'tin foil-wrapped curtain pole' is more suiting as I remember being able to reflect lasers
:p
