I went to a starbucks once when my american friends took me out for a coffee - they thought I'd be impressed, I have to say I drank the coffee to be polite but I really did not like it at all, and since then I've not stepped into a starbucks since. This definitely won't be bringing me back in!

But I go to those artisanal (aka hipster) coffee shops rather than chains.

There are some chains which are half decent. Starbucks and Costa are definitely not one of those.

I can understand the satay element (basically peanut butter), but the beef is a bit unnecessary.

I can see it working, not sure on the condensed milk and the syrup though. I would choose one or the other.
People eat burgers with donuts for buns and put syrup on bacon so who am I to judge?

For UK tastes it will be beef dripping and beef dripping with crispy chip bits, just like Nan used to make.
In some area's it will be duck or goose fat.

I'm not a fan of these pretend coffee houses and try to avoid as much as possible.

When I went to the US around the time Starbucks started opening in the UK Starbucks in the US was quite different to what it is in the UK now, or how it is generally now.

So is it better or worse now? I generally find large chains don't really give a toss about making the coffee well but I could be being a snob which is not unheard of !
