Steam - How do I install games from disc without being forced to download the whole thing?

Do you know of any way to distribute games across two HDDs? i.e. install a few games to my SSD, and rest to the larger mechanical drives?

Thanks guys - I'd never heard of symbolic links before...

Looking into it now - seems like it could be ideal

Use symlinks at work with Clearcase, didn't realise you could do them elsewhere...

Should have booted in to a Ubuntu LiveCD, attach a HDD or large flash drive and copied the steamapps folder over.

Just to be clear nothing was in my steamapps. It was a fresh install...
