steam just died - most games are not working

Looks like steam is having MAJOR issues this morning - the forum has crashed with people trying to find out why there games are not loading.
All source games, and anything the used the steam cloud looks to be unusable

What is still working (about 70% of the inde games I own)

Atom Zombie smasher (after a Steam Subscriber Agreement message)
The last remnant (after a Steam Subscriber Agreement message)
lightfish (after a Steam Subscriber Agreement message)
Magicka (after a XNA repair)
Majesty: gold
Mevo
Osmos
Roogoo
Rush (after a repair)
Tidalis
Trauma
Undergarden
World of Goo

...

Issues happen but this is getting a tad annoying now.

On top of the issues loading games my game categories dissapeared, restarted steam but now it's stuck on updating.

Obligatory; Y U NO LET ME PLAI GAMES I BOUGHT IN SALEZ STEEMS?

steam forums are back up

You can still play many games buy opening them directly via the steam folder - but there will be no saved games (auto saves maybe if your lucky)

Had a fair few problems with steam lately what is going on? Glad batman AC is not on steam, miraculously GFWL is working in a shocker.

These things happen.

It is not like Steam is down frequently is it and when they are unplanned, they do all they can in my opinion.

Go into offline mode. Seems everything works then (cept MP games obviously...), you'll just lose community features.

Skyrim has been a bit funny recently. Whenever I close steam it keeps on saying syncing cloud data. Solved with a quick restart of steam.

I've been using the servers in Ukraine for months now. No server downtime (although I haven't checked during this latest drama) and despite being in Ukraine my connection is always maxed when I'm downloading something.

All working for me now - the users online graph clearly shows the down time.
