Steam Summer Sale 2011

Actually checked what was on sale in the pub last nightg and saw terraria at £1.50...annoyed that is now £3 this morning >_< only thing ive bought today though :)

Aye, its not so much the cost, but the principle. These little sudden price increases do get annoying, especially if its still being advertised at lower price on the front page.
I was also going buy Terraria today..But not now they bumped the price up

Putting the prices up half way through a 24 hour daily sale just because the game selling better then they thought it would is really not on :(

Agreed. Was half tempted to buy it after all the recommendations - but now I won't simply because of principal.

I might have done it if this was a once off where they'd mistakenly put the wrong price, but I remember this happening a few times during the xmas sale too.

Just picked up Supreme Commander 2. Love RTS games but never played this. How is the online? Steep learning curve?

It's not too bad, the general game mechanics are more simplified when compared to TA and SupCom, certainly not as much careful resource balancing needed.

It has happened a few times through this sale too. Was going to buy Risen, but didn't for this very reason.

^^Yeah seems a bit cheeky, I guess you need to get on the deals at 6pm or as early as you can after, make a decision on what to buy within half an an hour and then get buying to avoid these sort of shenanigans. You can buy games via the website too so if you can't get to your PC then it may be worth buying it via smartphone or whatever.

Risen was only at the price for a couple of minutes and was obviously a mistake since they corrected it so quickly, this was simply a case of them filling their quota of cheap games before bumping up the price.

I managed to get it at 75% off though so I'm not complaining :D

Decreasing the prices in the middle of a 24hr sale would alienate too many people, they'd be like "I bought this game for £4.99, now it has been reduced to £3.74 five minutes later, what a disgrace, I'm never buying from Steam again".

It could have been a pricing mistake..

Notice how it says only 50% off on the steam updated news part..

Bingo. I can't be profitable to give too many games away at such a low price for the devs. They'd have known how many units they were willing to give away at that price, and they must have met it quite quickly.

Just think of it as an incentive to get in quickly next time. ;)

That said , shunning it for £3 is pretty hilarious, It's worth the £6 full price and more easily. :p

Interesting. Looks like they made a boo boo from the off with it. I guess some people should be thankful they got it so cheap, rather than complaining about the price. :o

But thats the thing, not all of us can always be at the computer at 6pm.

It isn't much money, but if I paid a few punds extra for each game it would soon add up. It is more of a principle thing than anything - that and the fact that I have far too many games that I never get around to playing.

Edit: Decided to buy Post Apocalyptic Mayhem, looks fun for only £1.49 :)

If I can't make it to all of the sales at Christmas, I'm not going to start complaining if things are sold out. :o

Looks like it was just a pricing error in the first place anyway. :)
