steering wheel not on strait

hi guys my steering wheel isn't on strait, my mate thinks it could be the geometry but the car still drives in a strait line any ideas ??

how much would it cost for geometry fixing?

Does it drive straight (on a flat piece of smooth tarmac) with no hands on the wheels?

It could be that someone has simply refitted it off center, or refitted other parts of the steering gear, leading to it not being in the right place

two ways of fixing it , depending on how far out it is.....could need both methods to get it just so...

one : take steering wheel off and place strait..

two : adjust the tracking rods both sides to straiten it up......(had to do this to fix current car. now as strait as a die).

I would not say so. Mine was off skew after having a new steering column which was just adjusted.

Check for any uneven tyre wear which would indicate a tracking issue.

bah.. it's going in for a new clutch tomorrow, i'll ask my mate to check it out. very annoying on the motorway atm.

You get this from lazy, can't be bothered types at Kwik Fit style tracking stations (so I'm told)... Apparently, when you adjust the tracking, it will have a knock on effect on the way the steering wheel points. The wheels will point straight ahead, but during the course of the adjusting, the steering wheel will move. A decent place should set it straight again - a lazy place won't unless you ask them, as it's a PITA.

Pro Tyre Fareham made no less than 5 attempts to get my steering wheel straight. It was quite frustrating and I bet they hated seeing me the 3rd time complaining it's not straight.

On the final time it was better but still isn't dead on straight so I just left it at that, will get it sorted properly by the bm Indy when I get oil service done next.

bah.. got it done today, £58 at alba tyres, the geometry was well out on all corners they said

also, whats a decent price to pay for mid range 200/50/R16 tyres?

I have the same issue on my Ibiza. Only got the car 2 weeks ago noticed the steering wheel wasn't straight. It didnt initially bother me as it drives straight but having read that is could be a bigger issue I've just taking it back to the dealers (main Seat dealer) to put right. Hopefully they can do it.
