Some nasty Greek stole my iPod on the Athens metro. I have now got a replacement one. It is "empty". What happens when I connect it to iTunes on my PC, particularly to books that I have bought? Will it synchronise - or say tough they are already on an iPod Touch?

Any advise please how I substitute my new one for the lost one?

Thanks

You can de-authorise all devices as well. It'll take off your machine, your old stolen touch, etc etc. Just re-authorise your machine, it'll be fine. It doesn't remove the items, just won't allow you to play them until you re-authorise. That way the ones on the stolen Touch would need re-authorising but that's not the main thing as they probably restored it anyway, the main thing is you get one of your five devices back.

Its a shame you cant report the other one stolen so when the nasty greek or whomever links it to a pc/wifi then it gets bricked! This day and age you should be able to do this.

That would be a terrible administrative/legal minefield that Apple would never want to get into.

Was thinking of something like this yesterday:
As said above you have 5 times to authorize your machine with the ipod. I am currently on 3/5 as i've done re-installs etc. So once 5/5 and for some reason i need to re-install again, what then? As i would have lost my money from applications =/

iTunes > Store > Account and under there somewhere you can de authorise all your machines.

I had this problem with reinstalls and I was advised to do this by apple.

Well, I just plugged it in and it gave me 2 options, set up new or restore from iTunes - I am doing the letter - so OK so far - "it is synching". Thanks. I didn't de-authorise anything (yet)
