Hi,

I've just go back from a couple of weeks in California, and it turns out my phone was stolen, maybe on the first night. I didn't notice until a few days later, and got it blocked as soon as I noticed. I wasn't using my phone because of the call costs, but went to get it out to check for messages, and it wasn't there. I had definately had it on the first night, and I had been staying in an dodgy area, just next to Mexico - things always go missing. I had a thorough search around the entire area, and asked around, but was just told that if it wasn't there, a local would have taken it.
I notified the police, so I got a claim number, and I told my insurance company - they are sending a claim form in the post.
I believe that they ask that they are given notice 24hours latest after the phone is stolen - will they still cover me for unauthorised calls made on my phone for the potential few days it was gone?
The phone is on Orange, and insurance is through P4U. It is on contract, and did not have a PIN code etc.
What is my best course of action for insurance purposes? I don't want to be stuck for a bill potentially running into thousands of pounds!

Also, is there any way to check what calls were made from the phone? Orange online will only show me my bill ending 10th March - not a running update on this months.

Sorry for the long post - I would really appreciate any help on this matter!

And yes, I appreciate that I am an idiot for several reasons, but please don't take it out on my right now! Thanks!

I'm not sure about this but i think most policies only cover you if your phone is physically snatched/taken from you. I'd read your policy first. :)

Why quote the whole post >_<

I am OK by my policy, I think (I read the policy document).
I might go into p4u tomorrow and talk to them.

Because it makes threads full of repeated information. Pages can bet veeeeeeeeery long otherwise.

I'd definitely talk to someone about it, the quicker you do the better with things like this.
