been in Hong Kong airport a few hours, before i remembered the wiring is the same as the UK, whipped out the laptop, plugged it in, jumped on the free wireless ADSL thats here, and here i am !!

although i have 11 hours until my next flight to Sydney and i am going mental already, so i thought, i know what to do .... the peeps on the OCUK forums can cheer me up ...

so go on then, any ideas for what i can do for 11 hours ?!!?!?

yeah, cheapest last minute flight i could get meant a 13 hour delay between flights ... and its chucking it down here, and the food smells eewwwww ...

11 hours to spare in HK and you are sat in the airport talking to us. You need help.

Put the lappy away, walk out of the airport, get into a taxi and do something in Hong Kong.

Agreed. Have a good look around and soak up the culture.

aye, check yourself and the bags in and then go for a wander around Hong Kong and come back with enough time to clear security

Well said. Mind you, the MTR is probably quicker and easier than a taxi. It really is a doddle to use.

You're right near the Big Buddha (Ngong Ping) which is well worth a look. The cable car was finished when we were there, but not open, so we got a scary bus all around the jungle -- but you could get the cable car now. Or simply get across to Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) and have a mooch about the waterfront. Get the ferry (cheaper and more fun than the MTR) across to the island and get up Victoria peak. Hong Kong is really easy to get about, do it! :)

Like it has been said, get up off your ass and explore the city :p

People these days

btw, mountains look astonishing, go climb them

HK = Dirt Cheap Gadgets, electronics e.t.c.

HK = Good Food (if that's your thing)

Or you can always pop a couple of sleeping pills and wake up in 10 hours time.

He's on a transfer, he can't leave air side.

Edit. Plus he has no VISA and he's just got off a 14 hour flight and maybe doesn't feel like running around the city and the stress of immigration / check in.

Hong Kong would be a great place for a 2 night stop imo - it can add a good deal to the cost with some airlines though, especially as the OP has some sort of last minute bargain ticket.

Does Hong Kong have an air side hotel? When I stopped in Dubai you could grab a room for a few hours - nice to have a bit of kip and the security of knowing you've got an alarm call in plenty of time for your flight :)

Failing that - walk, walk lots, it'll help you sleep on your next leg so you can arrive fresh.

Abuse the bandwidth and download as many things as you can.. Or get a nice little tool called Cain and Abel and set up your own pay to use browser page and DNS spoof it so everyone enters their card details. Might make your holiday cheaper?
