Stopping smoking - Champix

If you find that giving up becomes too much of a struggle, try vaping. It is cheating but certainly a healthier and less expensive option and it is also the only thing that has worked for me. I've not had a proper cig for 2 months now.

I have recently given up and did it a strange way.

Had a few people tell me vaping was the way to go so bought an e-cig and started with that about 5 weeks ago. after the initial week I found I was using it less and less as I wasnt that bothered.

Then the week before last I went down with a cold , havent looked at the e-cig since as i felt so rotten craving a ciggy was the last thing on my mind.

Have done about 10 days now totally nicotine free and its is getting easier every day, still have difficult moments but guess they will fade :)

Day 2 of Champix and I Have only had 2 cigs since 10:30 last night. I had 13 yesterday. I had planned to stop by day 10 of the course but I think I can do it sooner!

I have been smoking for 26 years but I really want to stop now

I used Champix too, was told by my doctor that i would need to smoke for a 7/10 days after, stopped smoking about 4 days in. Pretty good stuff!

Lol, i've actually started smoking again since then, i was at a party and got reeled in. Although i knew i didnt need that fag i still had it. Going to start Champix again after this pack of cigs and learn from my mistake. Basically don't think you can just get away with the one once you've quit.

no keep smoking until lighting up you take 2 draws and feel ill at the taste of it...THEN stop...Unless lighting up makes you feel sick then it's not time to stop.

When you feel ill and actually STOP smoking then that mental note in your head will last in that it is rotten to smoke and it'll help you mentally get over the stopping.

Just like an alcho taking "just the one drink" it leads to ruin....

I've been vaping for a year now and have no reason to give up. It's cheap, not bad for your health, can do it indoors, doesn't smell and I still look uber cool (probably more so).

I have the odd cigarette/roll up but quite rarely now.

Vaping allowed me to kick the habit, thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to quit. Just do your research before you spend too much money on ****. I've bought loads of kits but most are junk. Went and got myself a Provari Provape V2 in the end. May have cost me an arm and a leg but it also might have saved me a heart and a lung.

Breaking routine..if you can do this then you can quit.

Smoking after a meal
Smoking with a brew
Breaks at work etc
Drinking...avoid if you want to quit

Cold turkey is the way to go. Other methods just fill the pickets of people who get rich off of failure..

For most people unless they can mentally reinforce a negative connection to smoking they will be unable to quit cold turkey.

i used champix, had weird dreams but quit on day 9. didn't finish the course of champix only did up to day 14.

have craving every now and again but that is to be expected.

money was my motivator. and i now own a brand new triumph street triple r because of quitting.

To say vaping is healthy is a fallacy if you still use nicotine in them and quite frankly, even if there is no addictive nicotine in them, then why would one use it? Because it becomes an addiction? Not healthy imo. It's cheating period. You're just replacing one addiction with another. Why not just show yourself how strong you can be and quit the lot? That's when the real sense of pride would kick in.

I don't think the two (smoking and vaping) are particularly comparable, though, in the grand scheme of things.

The majority of people want to stop smoking because of the obvious detriment to health, the stink it makes, and the now socially unacceptable status. Not to mention the absolutely vile taste of the things.

With vaping, you don't stink, nobody else gets annoyed, and the health risks are minute in comparison. With the amount of flavours possible, just think of it as putting the enjoyment back into nicotine. It's acceptible to enjoy alcohol without putting yours or others' health at risk -- why is it not possible to accept the same for nicotine?
