Going to upgrade my current rig to a 5600X/B550-F Strix.

I was looking at my options for storage.

Usually I would just buy a 256/512gb for my OS then a 2TB for my games.

Would I see any benefit spending almost double for a Gen 4 M.2 NVME for the OS or should I just stick to Gen 3?
Also for the 2TB Games installation drive should I just get a normal SSD or pay the extra to use a Gen 3 M.2 NVME also?

Cheers

No real benfit going for a pcie4 m2 drive unless your transfering data from one fast drive to another fast drive.

Storage for games again there is no real benefit in loading times from m2 v ssd less than 1 second there are loads of comparison vidoes out there. This doesnt mean there wont but benefits in the future but i would get the best value option unless there close in price.

I went 1TB Gen 3 NVME for £75 (Crucial P5) for OS drive and 1TB SATA SSD for games etc. (MX500) no real benefit really, but the NVME was cheap at the time, so thought why not.

Thanks,
So my assumption's are correct.

M.2 NVME Gen3 for my OS/Apps
2TB SSD for installing my games too (or another M.2 NVME if I can get for a decent price just for ease of installation as there will be no performance benefit).

I also have an old HDD I was going to keep for storage of photos etc but I might just purchase another 1TB SSD to replace it (SAY NO TO HDD lol)

Thanks for help.
