Storing passwords on a Word doc

I have all of my savings and password details written in a number of word / text files and they are password protected in a rar file. That file is then within My Documents which in turn is encrypted using TrueCrypt within a pass phrase protected file.

For me that is secure enough

i have been using keepass for a few years now.

What i do is have one fairly complex password that i use to open keepass that i remember only.

for most forums i use an easy to type and remember password (same password for multiple forums) i don't realy mind if they get taken over. But for everything else i use a passwords that i could not remember, generated by keepass password generator. like 32 chars with all types of chars, asc II even.

I have been using KeePass for the past few years. It's excellent. Got about 180 accounts in there. I use it to store wifi passwords and door security codes too.

The auto system is pretty good as once you ahve set it up you go to a login page, click in the first text filed press Cntrl + Alt + A and keepass pops up, asks you for your master password and auto fills the form in and presses submit.

I also ahve my keepass database file syncs into dropbox and I use MyKeePass on my iPhone to access that file so I ahve all my accounts with me on my phone from everywhere!

Perhaps in older Office versions but Office 2010 employs 128bit AES encryption for passwords and like most things, if a complex password (7chars+) is used then the time taken to crack it will be lengthy and well beyond what any would be snooper would want to hang around for.

*taps foot*

Heh, you're right :). I didn't realise they'd improved the security in 2010.

Unless I manage to source a bot-net I doubt your password will be crackable any time soon :p.

Nobody will be able to find out what the secret message is inside then lol :p

TBH if viruses are you worry write your dock, then print it :-/

Once they can infect paper were all screwed.

Office 2007 is cool to :) only before that was it childs play.

Even better, clearly I've not been paying attention to these features. Mind you, the easiest option would be to steal the password with a keylogger but that's besides the point!

Heh I remember that one :D.

Never :D. So we know the password is 9 characters long, can you break it down even more? Letters only, symbols, uppercase, lowercase, mixed case, random letters, starts with, dictionary words etc? Otherwise it would take many years :o.
