just installed my pre order windows 7 HP and started installing stuff, i got firefox up and running but can't open more than one window ??? before on xp and vista i would have 4 or 5 windows open at a time with multiple tabs in each one but when i copied over my Mozilla folder from xp it wouldn't open more than the first window/set of tabs

i have looked through the options and stopped windows grouping stuff together but with no joy, can anyone help me PLEASE :)

had you tried it before moving the folder over from xp (ie clean install of firefox)? don't get that problem on my pc

How are you trying to open more windows? Shift-clicking the icon in the taskbar will open a new instance, alternatively Ctrl-N in Firefox.

Any way that opened a new window pre-Windows 7 should still open a new window.

It sounds rather like you mean it's only restoring the first window of your saved session rather than you're having any problem opening a new window directly.

no i can't open more than 1 window full stop, internet explorer works but not firefox?? i will try to un-install and re-install tomorrow hopefully that should do something, before i do could it be an add-on or something causing this (i just copied the folder over and the add-ons were already there) the only other change is i'm using zone alarm SS where i was using kaspersky before but had too many false positives and i've never had a problem with zone alarm in the past

anyway thanks for all the replys guys and if you have any other ideas please share them i'm pulling my hair out lol

problem solved, it was the zone alarm tool bar thingy, disabled that and copied over my back up again and up comes all my lovely windows :D

anyway cheers guys :)

what's wrong with zonealarm??? i was using it for years on win xp 32 but when moving upto x64 it wasn't supported so had to find something else hence why i started using kaspersky but that would completely make my system unusable when doing a virus scan (i think it used every byte of my 4Gb) and also said fallout mod sorter was a trojan

to be honest software isn't my strong point, i can install windows and config it ect but finding problems and stuff like that is where i fail, i'm more of a hardware / gamer kind of guy :D
my mate on the other hand is much more into software and he uses zonealarm all the time and has done for years
