Strange USB Issue (possibly power related?)

Hey everyone,

Within the past couple of weeks I've started having strange issues with my USB connection, primarily the mouse (Logitech G400).

System is as follows:

Gigabyte EX58-UD5
i7-920 @ 2.6 (stock speed, stock cooler)
6Gb RAM (no idea on details)
ASUS GTX 980Ti Strix OC
2x Dell U2515H connected via DP (not using the USB on these at all)
2x Intel 80Gb SSD (device manager shows SSDSA2M080G2GN), one of them is the system drive
Intel 120Gb SSD (SSDSC2CW120A)
500Gb Western Digital platter drive (WD5000AAKS-00YGA0)
600Gb Western Digital platter (WD6000HLHX-01JJPV0)
USB3.0 expansion card (can't remember the make/model)
everything in a Corsair Carbide Air 540 case
Das Keyboard (forget which version, EU "silent" version with no key detail)
Logitech G400 mouse
Creative 2.1 speakers
Logitech c920 webcam

The only thing that has changed recently is the webcam which was added a couple of weeks ago. I then got a strange "Device is drawing too much power" message not long after, but it was the mouse that stopped working. Tried in another USB port on the back, and no problem.

Since then however, I've periodically had the mouse seem to 'skip' or jump around, or not register to clicks or movement for half-second periods. It gave up on me completely a couple of days ago and now isn't recognised in the back port at all, so I've had to switch to one of the USB3.0 ports provided by the expansion card.

Could it be that the webcam has now pushed the current delivery for the on-board USB too high and damaged the port? Or possibly the age of all the components is now too much (most of the core of the PC was bought in late 2009), I was considering an upgrade shortly after Christmas anyway but this might be the kick I need to actually go ahead and get it done! The only other things I have connected via USB are 2 external drives but they have their own power supplies so I can't imagine they're pulling much (if any) current from the board.

I think I have a powered USB2.0 hub lying around somewhere, so I might try connecting that up to one of the other 2.0 ports and see if the mouse is stable via that.

Obviously I can try testing without the webcam connected too but the main reason for getting one was to try getting my feet wet with streaming some older games I still enjoy.

Any and all assistance is appreciated :)
