I've decided not to sell my bike as the offers have been surpringinly low and with my new location it may be easier to ride there. Only problem is I have to take a piece of equipment that won't fit in my top box. Rather than buy a larger one I'm thinking I'll just strap it down to the pillion seat.

I have some cheap bungee cords but I'm not a huge fan of them are there any other good alternatives. At the moment I'm looking at Rok straps is there anything else I should consider?

Nothing else you should consider, rok straps are the best option.
I've recently been researching/considering alternative luggage options and even the really expensive alternatives are just variations on the theme, rather than offering something noticably better.

Other option is to use webbing straps with cam buckles. Ratchet straps are probably overkill but it depends what the equipment is.

I strapped my wet weather gear to my pillion for my recent trip. Stuffed inside a Friendly Swede dry bag (these are awesome - very heavy duty) and attached it just with a small cargo net. There's no windflow to speak off directly behind the rider, and no real lateral g force to dislodge it.

I've used a cargo net a few times before without a problem, but only for lighter stuff. Those rok straps look good though.

I think I'll go with the Rok straps as they look nice and strong but I'll probably pick up a cheap webbing straps with cam buckles too so I have another option should I lose something.

Thanks chaps.

Never had that much luck with normal non-stretchy luggage straps on their own; no matter how tight I do them up they always seem to work loose after a while. They are useful if you need a really long strap, but combine them with a bungee strap (or the posh Rok straps) on the end to maintain tension.
