Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Hey Guys


It was recommended I check out this site and forum for meeting new players but I never expected to hit this page and already see my name being mentioned! I think I recognise a few of the names on here actually – small world….

It was a while ago now but I remember having some ggs with some of you and I’d very much like it to be a regular thing if you guys are up for it. I’m trying to get back into this game (AE 2012) after some major relocating forced a hiatus from games for a while. It’s starting to come back but I’m a little rusty; I think Elrasho was bang on the money about my games with him (Abel is also a problem matchup for me!).

I try to be on most evenings and definitely throughout the day on Sundays, mainly hoping to score small to medium sized Endless lobbies so the downtime between matches isn’t too long and to learn matchups. I’ll be frequenting this site/thread often so feel free to hit me up or even shoot me a FR on XBL. GT: ThePugz83.

I also play BF3 to blow off some steam every now and then.

Hey, 1v1 suits me even better. Most people just get fed up with me cos they dont like to play against Ryu all night! I like jumping right back into the fight to learn/adapt/try new things.

Just managed to get my hands on a Elite 360 250GB HDD and a copy of AE 2012, my mate had the 360 with AE (the only game he had with it what luck) and he is selling it to me tomorrow. Could be up and running soon.

Would love to get some games in with the Guys on here, again I really suck but would love to get some info and knowledge from you guys.

Yeah, I'm all up for private sessions as I too wanna get good at this game as well as have fun. In fact the better I get, the more fun I seem to have. I know Elrasho will be perfect for learning the Abel matchup. Any other takers?

Welcome Pugz, I'm mpower07, we had a few good 1v1s last week, you got the better of me though. If you get a chance play Distorted, he has a good Ryu, I think you guys would be about even. Have you played Madbeats? His Ryu is very good. A lot of us on here struggle vs El Rashos Abel because he has his own unique style, but good luck with that matchup, I hate it too!

What's going on pugz, I haven't seen you around for a while, you still going to those Saturday sessions?
I tend to just counter pick ryu so my Boxer isn't great at that match, but tell me if you want some Boxer/Fei/Sagat matches.

Edit: When Adz says "unorthodox" he means random and lucky :p
 
Will do Adz. And I definitely used to have Distorted on one of my older accounts; I remember him having a good Ryu, that's why I added him! I guess I'll catch up with the rest of you online. Although feel free to post any challenges or set requests here and I'll oblige!

Hey whats up man? I know it's been a while. I was at last Saturday's SF casuals; a good few heads turned up so it was quite good. Work is busting my balls at the moment so I haven't been able to go to WSO in like 2 months but I do re-watch the stream - you had some nice matches with your Boxer last week! I'm glad you chimed in and brought up Fei because your's is definitely good and he's up there as one of my worst matchups. I dont even know ANY other Gat players so you've got me well covered, thanks man. I'll try and nab you the next time I see you online, and I will be making a triumphant return to WSO soon......

If I am able to get online these days, its late - around midnight or just after. My daughter doesn't let me play AT ALL. My madcatz TE stick is her favourite toy, as soon as she sees it she has to play on it.
 
During Weekdays I'll just sign in and see who's around for some Endless, if I haven't already made plans for a set with any of you beforehand. Fridays and Weekends though I'm definitely up for some late night gaming. Sometimes I sign in and none of my current friends will be playing so I just sign out again for the night. Good to know there others out there burning the midnight oil!

i hope you got my lag spike yun combo recorded distorted :) or the bit when you were stun and i forgot what to do to finish you off. it looks like you know how to beat dive kick though, i was just pressing buttons randomly and you were beating them clean. maybe if i am bored enough i will play you again when there is less lag.

in all seriousness, i have retired from this stupid game, only started playing today because i couldnt find matches on marvel at the night (plus it will be too much stress to deal with lv3 xfactor and rage quits) and i could still hit the yun combo in lag :) neither this character's combos are too easy or anyone that couldnt do a basic jab jab into something combo should step up their game.
 
Combos are minor in this game honestly, there are very few "hard" combos when compared to a game like marvel. The skill in this game is more about landing that clean hit and what kind of stupid setup you can get from the knockdown. That's why Akuma/Cammy/Fei are top tier, lots of ways for a good knockdown and dumb setups galore afterwards.
This game really has gone downhill of you ask me.
 
thats true and damage scaling kicks in really hard after a few hits as well:( dont worry. i dont like this game too:) i hate ultras, focus attacks, input shortcuts, easy reversals, stupid knockdown setups, every combo (except viper and probably furete) is jab into something and i especially hate how this is the only where jab jab throw is some sort of offense because it doesnt work in every other game.

you should play marvel with me:) although that game can be really annoying too (lv3 xfactor) and it gets worst online. but you can avoid most of the randomness and chaos if your team can zone and you are smart defensively. or you can definitely have a go on hdr. its fun:)

actually there is very "few hard" combos in marvel too (from my experience these are the only hard combos needed in a real match: magneto hyper grav loop, rocket racoon boulder trap loop, zero lightning loop, spiderman's extended web throw loops, and some character's extended tac combos) unless you are trying to style with a impractical combo. damage scaling and hit scaling is a problem too, combos only gets hard if you try to get that extra 10-15% damage but in general its not worth it.

Smartest thing I've read from you in quite some time, you rage way too much on AE I've only played a few sets with you on it but each time I thought you were going to internally combust you just don't seem to enjoy the game.
