Getting shot of my GF's StreetKA. It's on 04 plate with 78k on the clock. I'm thinking we should get around £3k trade in as the front wing could do with a respray. I've seen 04plates go for around £5k plus so should be good for 3k.

I've got about 500-1000 to add to it at the very most. Need a 4 seater, not worried about fuel type but don't want to have to drop gears to go up a little hill. Mileage will be very small.

any ideas around the £4k mark?

My ex replaced her KA with a 56 plate Grande Punto for £4200 about 8 months ago, she loves it. Cheap, reliable, better inside than the Ford, and all the little mod cons etc to keep her happy. Might be worth a shout just having a look at one as they tend to be cheaper than most of the rivals.

If not I'd look at the usuals, Fiesta or Focus (although you may end up having to get an older car the bigger you go).

that's not bad......she will only be doing the odd trip so doesn't need to be a monster car at all.

We're looking around that sort of size anyway. also saw a suzuki something or other around the same size

The ex travels from Woking to Reading and back once a week (20-30miles) and the rest of the trips are in and around town with the odd 80mile trip to see uni friends. She found the KA horrible on the motorways but the Grande Punto she says is perfectly fine. She got a 1.2 (which she claims is a tiny bit faster than her 1.3 KA) but you can easily get a 1.4 I'd imagine in budget.

Suzuki Swift would be the car you saw possibly?

Other ones to consider would maybe be an Seat Ibiza?

yeah, the new swift looks quite nice. He current KA is the 1.6 so it's actually quite a fun car, but now we need a car which is a fraction more practical.

TBH most people on here are going to say Fiesta which is a brilliant little car. However the best thing you and the other half can do is set aside a few hours one day and do a round trip of the all the local dealers in your area, just spend 15minutes having a look at each car, some you'll hate because of the interiors or space or silly little things that we won't pick up on.

At the end of the day you are going to be driving it, we can offer advice but it's what you want and prefer out of a car that should make the final choice for you.

See which 2 or 3 cars you like the best and then come back and we'll be able to help pick the right model, engine and other things for your budget.

I'm going to say the Grande Punto is a good shout but I'm likely to get shot down "because it's a Fiat and will fall apart...." etc...

We had a quick look at fiesta's in our local ford garage last night....couldn't believe how much they actually cost. they are around £1000 more for a year or two older than the swift or punto
