Strike Suit Zero - High Quality Space Combat *Steam* ( INDIE )

I've explained why i felt the way that i did and unlike you guys i've since spoken to the developer of the game in the last 10mins and such i'll say no more!

So why post this in the first place?

I would be very surprised if a developer would pass along a confidential business plan, and financial statement of the company to a stranger from a community forum.

Looking at the team photo, $100k (£62k~) will just about pay them all salary till January.

I am not sure that the AAA title reason is a valid one, obviously not an expert, but I don't think it makes that much difference when you are comparing £50 games to <£20 indie games. They aren't in competition.

Btw would the game be modable at all, as in could some group mod the game to have diff ships and weapons, and maybe get rid of the mech and instead use some other kinda of transformation or not use one at all?

Of course they are in competition. Every product competes for our disposable income, and free time. Items or services do not need to be in the same product bracket, or price point to compete.

It makes perfect sense not to release their first game at a time when shelf space (obviously virtual in this scenario) is crowded.

EA/DICE - We need more time to give you a better gaming experience ( PS3 gets released first, pc gets put back )

Eh? EA/Dice didn't delay their product on the PC. PS3 has an exclusive 1 week window due to the EA's **** up during their E3 promtion of the BF3 limited edition for the PS3. I think you read far too much into things. Not everything is a conspiracy.

I didnt think a uk business could do a ks tbh. Have ks changed recently to allow uk businesses to be used on ks now. I know they planned to have EU ks soon but thats still a month or so away i thought.

He did not but he clearly explained the reasons behind why this kickstarter is happening, however as i said before using kickstarter for funding at such a late stage in development does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

You can agree or disagree with that, it is not changing

So you start the thread, post videos, update us on how awesome the game is but due to a funding requirement you don't want to play it.

Jesus. Talk about taking an unnecessary high moral ground. I hope that your employer never requires some form of late hour funding to finish a project. The fall might be sore.

Looks AWESOME.

(Dusts off Joystick for some arcade action).

Backed.

For me, when someone gets funding is irrelevant. As long as the work has been done, if the game gets released, who cares? If Kickstarter is being used as a marketing tool for a finished product and helps the developers make more stuff, who cares?

That 100k in game development terms will not be a great deal once everyone takes their cut.

I am guessing they have private equity backing them but are at the point where that is running out and to fall soo close to the finish line would be sad. I too would do anything at this stage to keep the project alive and get it finished.

$25,000 -- thank you!

Update #1 · Oct. 19, 2012

Incredible! To have raised a quarter of our target in under two days really is amazing. To the 832 of you (at time of writing) that have backed us so far -- thank you! It really means a lot to us, and it's great to see so many space combat fans excited about the game.

Some really cool stuff on the way next week, so make sure to keep checking the page.

These are good days for us space combat fans!

Thank you! =)

I'll admit that our hearts sank somewhat when Star Citizen appeared on Kickstarter just a few hours after our game! The response to Strike Suit Zero has been positive so far though :) However we're not over the finish line yet! Also, keep an eye on the Kickstarter page for some updates soon ;)

Any multiplayer modes? That would be amazing.

Currently we're fully committed to delivering a quality single-player experience, and that's what the current Kickstarter goal is for. We're not ruling out multiplayer by the way, just that we'll have to see how the Kickstarter goes first! ;)

In the mean time, the current game does have other competitive/online features in the form of leaderboards and a score-chasing side to the game (that people who played it at Rezzed/Eurogamer/PAX will have probably experienced first hand!).

We'll be releasing more information on mod tools very shortly, keep an eye on the Kickstarter page for updates regarding this! :)

From the Kickstarter update on mod tools:

"If the Kickstarter campaign reaches $130,000 we will take our in-house editing tool to the next level and open it to the community. You will be able to create your own missions - your own campaign - and share them with the community."
