There must be tons of students on here, what do you guys use and recommend?

I was thinking NTL since it means we dont have to get the phone line (that ends up costing more and causing more trouble)

Any other no-phone services?

6bedroom house, lite internet usage, only 1 or 2 people will occasionally download

thanks!

hey,

i'm oso looking out for broadband deals for my household...

was looking at Pipex, but it requires a 12mth contract... any which does'nt require a 12mth contract??

most will drop to a 9 month contract if you're a student... i know ntl gave us a 9 month one pretty quickly/easily when asked.

They refused to offer me that when I took out their 10Mb service, however, I was an easy sale. I just rang up, sia dI wanted their 10Mb service and nothing else and it was job done. I should have pushed for some freebies/cheap extras :(

i tried to check whether broadband is available at our flat, apparently no. but another flat is able to.

i think its because i dun haf a telephone line right now.

just e-mailed NTL. waiting their reply..

And if they don't.... when you want to move out again, inform them and they will ask you where you're moving to. Give them a postcode that has no cable provider and they'll let you get out of your contract early. I've done it 5 times.

Have a wait until uni actually starts, my uni had a telewest sales person giving out cheap deals for students. As NTL is the same company now they may do the same. I think cable is your best bet. :)

i signed up for NTL's £20/mo 2mb broadband & select tv package, if they do uni deals better than that then...well, too bad :(

I went to one of my mates yesterday and he's been given a list of student deals. 10Mbit only £17.49/mth!

Not in the last 12-18 months on TW, the policy changed so they will hold you to contract trust me. If you want a 9 month Student deal ASK for it, it's freely available to all students, they also have a teacher deal but that's not exactly great value with all the changes made lately.
