badgermonkey said:Be careful. Seriously. My mate managed to blow his student loan in 2 weeks. He lived off 20p noodles for breakfast lunch and dinner for the rest of the year. I really cannot stress if you blow it all you are *********
And unless my mum decides to go downmarket on the shopping then I'l still be eating Caviar for breakfast, lunch and tea

Abraham said:ok, i'm aware it's a slightly different system now, but is it really necessary to have a thread like this every start of term
everyone gets their loan at a different time, based on when your uni processes it, which will be (almost) guaranteed after you register, normally the next/same day, occaisionally routinely upto a week after (if they process them all at once)
if it's any longer than this you need to speak primarily to your university finance department (as to why they've not put it through), then SLC (as to why you've not got it), then maybe your LEA (as to why you've had to speak to them)

manoz said:I'm getting paid from work at the end of the month aswell, that should last till Christmas if not, might have to dip into the overdraft.![]()
(I love wales)), if you use up your entire overdraft remember you're normally required to pay off the overdraft on your student account within a couple of years. So if you have a 2 grand overdraft you have a couple of years to pay that off. Not very nice NOW is it?
badgermonkey said:See this is the reason everyone comes out of uni with debts twice as high as what they borrowed. Im budgeting £20 a week below what i could spend, within a couple of months i'll have a few hundred quid floating spare to have fun with, and not be worrying about the fact that im living in overdrafts and credit cards.![]()

badgermonkey said:You really want to avoid dipping into that. Aside from the 9 grand you'll be required to payback in tuition fees (I will only have 5200(I love wales)), if you use up your entire overdraft remember you're normally required to pay off the overdraft on your student account within a couple of years.
