Stupid MOT question

As ubersonic says, technically you have a valid MoT, but an unroadworthy car, which is something the police can still stop you for and charge you with. However, unless it's glaringly obvious (which you should have noticed before the MoT), then chances are you'll be fine if you're driving it to somewhere for repairs.

I thought as it was all computerized now that a fail is a fail and technically you no longer have a valid MOT?
