The IS200 is getting on now and we're looking around for a new car.

Has to be Automatic.

£20k and under.

We've had a look as the IS-Saloons and some BMW's

Any other ideas?

How "new" would you like it to be? Are running costs an issue? You can get some really lovely big engined prestige cars for that sort of money. Are you sticking with a saloon body shape? As you want an auto, would I assume you don't get so involved in the driving experience and things like quality and refinement come further up your priority list?

Does it need to be new or is used OK?
If used is OK, what is the maximum age you would consider?

A4? A3 Sportback? VW Phaeton? X-Type? Golf DSG? Honda Accord? Nissan Micra?

You don't specify any criteria other than price and automatic. That IS200 is probably closer to the A3 Sportback class of cars in size and in the way it drives than any luxo-barge. Don't reckon you can beat a 3 series as an all round proposition, even if there are millions of them on the roads. However, you'll never get that level of engineering reliability and build again once you move away from the Japanese cars.

Doesnt have to be new.

Not diesel.

Atm the IS200 is a 52 Reg so anything newer.

And yes luxury ;)

Needs to be around the size of an IS200 too.

I think my money would go on a 530D in that case. Bit bigger than an IS200. If you wanted the same size then a 330D

Well, seeing as your requirements are rather vague, I'll leave everyone else to make the sensible suggestions.

Automatic
Not Diesel
Luxurious
Doesn't has to be new
And you haven't mentioned children

if your willing to give on the diesel issue you can't go wrong with a 330d auto, drove one recently and was very impressed, grait engine loads of smooth power and 45mpg

**** me.

one horrendous grammatical spelling error is bad enough but two???

your should be you're as in "you are" rather than your which means "to belong"

"grait"....you can't even say that's a typing error.
