Subaru Gurus can you tell me difference between these models?

it also uses the 2.5L UK engine which doesnt have the greatest of reputations. Has a habit of blowing up and all sorts.

the 2.0L twinscroll unit in the JDM cars does however, its rock solid, tunes to 400bhp + with ease and consumate reliability, and having a twinscroll turbo is very low lag.

They are nice, only a handfull made however.

Litchfield had one back for sale earlier this year

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/stocklist.asp?inc=305

Not seen another one since.

And it was over 30k.

There is a guy who who works at the bike shop at the top of my street that owns one, I literally wet myself each time I walk past it, look even nicer in the flesh.
On a side note, I saw a 22B in the town centre the other day, first time I ever seen one.

Lifted from Type RA forum - might be worth registering.

The gearbox code is TY856WB7JA 6 speed with ddcd with short throw gearleaver. 1.2.3.4 gears same as the uk box but 5th and 6th are a shorter ratio.

My understanding is that the S204 is more of a "grown up" STI - bit like the Spec D in the UK (but way nicer seats)

The brand new Spec Cs - the chap is on SNet. Someone bought one of the white ones and I think it was a pain to get plates - but not impossible (which technically it should be)

how much of that spec is specific to the Spec C Type RA however as the normal Spec C has some of that kit ?

Same question as well. :D

Do all Spec C's have the re-inforced front suspension or whatever they call it for dialling out understeer, better feel etc?

I thought so, but looking at this

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/subaru_06specc.asp

It makes no mention of suspension modifications

Only press release i can find is this one

http://www.autoblog.com/2005/08/18/subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-spec-c-ready-to-rally/

which confiirms "It also features reinforced strut tower braces, a rear crossbar and other additions to improve chassis rigidity" but again no mention of suspension components

But wikipedia says

"The WRX STI Spec C Type RA was released in November 2005, with 350 units produced. The Type RA added the following to the Spec C model from the STI parts catalogue: 4-way STI adjustable inverted struts, STI Japan-spec pink springs, STI rear lateral links, STI rear trailing links, STI 21 mm (0.8 in) rear sway bar, STI rear pillowball suspension, STI 110 mm (4.3 in) opening rear axleback exhaust, STI 17" x 8" Enkei-made wheels and STI V-lip front spoiler."

So it looks like the RA has a load of suspension components specific to it. So it looks like it might be worth buying THIS instead.

1 of only 4 in the country however. So if that one has gone by the time you're ready to buy you could be waiting a while for another to come up for sale.

This is Off topic, being the blob eye STI type RA granted, but it gives you an idea of how there stack up against the CSL you liked so much.

what do you reckon to that Spec RA i linked to gibbo.

Its been tuned to 400bhp by Powerstation so should be solid.

Its lovely, but if I get one really set on a white one. :D

Silver is just a bit boring, but apart from that it does look incredible and 400+ BHP in something sub 1400kg with 4WD has gotta shift some, can't be far off Mustang pace really. :)

dude there are only 4 in the country, and you want the bloody white one :p

Only other option would be to get somebody to source one of the other 300 or so in Japan when one comes up. Which they will do eventually.

Yes as I am in no rush I might seriously considering importing one myself, or speaking to Litchfields or Performance Car Centre about getting me, just need a test drive though first as I might hate it LOL.

I've discovered some stuff though tonight.

The S204 is not based on the Spec C chassis, its based on UK STi chassis but it has all the Spec C RA suspension and running gear. Plus the S204 also have the larger VF42 turbo from the Spec C RA-R, making it very tunable, remap alone results in 360BHP with good torques. Only downfall to the S204 is it weighs 1470kg, wheras the Spec C varients weigh in at 1390kg. But the S204 is said to handle UK roads better and the sound proofing it has can be beneficial. Wheras the Spec C's are better on track supposedly.

So basically one way of looking at the S204 is its an RB320 with RA suspension, RA-R turbo and a very up market interior as its all leather and alacantra with some gorgeous recaro seats. Or am I million miles of the mark with that one?

Only thing I can't find out if its true that the last 2007 Spec C's had VF42 turbos as well or not, wikipedia seems to think so, but does not mean its right.

Its quick, but the newer Spec C's are faster as they are 80kg lighter and got a better turbo.

Plus I really don't like that shape. :(

From what I hear they can be made quicker with a quick trip to a tuner (not just your average 'remap innit') and can be running fairly silly power. :)

How come you have decided to look at scoobs? Won't it be a bit too similar to the Evo? No harm in trying all the various cars if you have the opportunity I guess. :D

SO Realisitcally it comes down to the Refinment of the S204 with all the goodies on it, vs the Hard Edged Lightweight Spec C RA or a Spec C RA-R.

As you say, need a test drive to confirm for definate.

Dont be put off by the Spec C RA not having the same turbo as the RA-R and S204 however. The engine is also very tunable with 360bhp from a remap + exhaust.

Contact PCM - think his name is Immy. He has the unregistered Spec Cs.

I would drive one though first. Not sure what the gearing on the newer models is like compared to the classics, but my RA had the lowest ratio box available and it was a chore on long journeys.
