Hi guys, it's been a while since i've posted in motors!

For the past year or so i have been driving a Fabia vRS which i love to bits. I do a fair few miles for work and so far (touch wood) its been an excellent all rounder for fuel consumption, fun, and reliability.

To be able to put any sort of worthwhile deposit down on a house i have decided to sell it and get a lease car through work (NHS leasing scheme - a lot of my colleagues have cars through it and they are very happy with the cars they have and the amount they pay for them). Unfortunately Skoda have stopped producing the Fabia as a new model is coming out next year or something along those lines, so i need to find a car which is similar in quality/co2 emissions etc that is actually available and not too pricey (around the 16k mark)

So far i have looked at the new Mini Cooper D (60+ MPG), the Honda Civic, and then other, slightly less attractive cars like the Toyota Aygo as the MPG is good and its a reliable little run around, but im trying not to sacrifice too much quality and speed for only a slightly lower monthly deduction from my salary!

So, any suggestions? Main thing really is high MPG, low Co2 emissions and any price lower than £15/16k is better...and not looking for anything very much bigger than the Fabia.

Have been looking at some other VAG makes, not so keen on the look of the new Leon tbh but may look into the Golf some more, they all just seem so much more expensive than the Fabia for not much more!

The new R56 Coopers so far, from what i've heard on various owners forums are pretty good.

The only issue i have them are the looks, I think the newer 07 Shape has lost something over the older R53's...

Although overall, and having test drove one myself (Cooper Petrol) the newer R56's are quiet, nimble.. but afaik, I think the Cooper Diesel could possibly be a 1.4.. so you may not get a lot out of it.
