Guys

Far short of getting rid of my Coolmaster Cosmos I would like your suggestions ofr mounting my rad.

I am not keen on the idea of mounting the rad inside the case or hanging on the back ( my dremel and hacksaw skills are rubbish ) so i thought of mounting most of the kit in some kind of external box with just the hose going in and out of the back of the Cosmos , it has two made holes in for tubing .

Now this box must contain the following .

Thermochill P120.3 Rad
3x Yate Loons
Laing DDC 12V ULTRA Pump & Plexitop
Danger den 5.25 drive bat res ,,but I can change that .

Does anyone sell a rad box that would be in keeping with a Tower case (silver or black ) ?

Or your suggestions please ?

It's possible to get small cases designed to fit under Lian Li cases holding Phase Change units but they're not cheap and you don't have a matching case. Are you up to making a box out of MDF? Many others have done it. Have you thought of using a Swiftech RadBox to mount the rad on the back of the case. If you already have tube holes, you wouldn't have to touch a dremel.

Funny you should say that I have a rad box but just don't like the arrangement .

as long as you can wield a saw then making a rad box aint exactly rocket science. you just need to make up your mind what you want from it, & what material to use & away you go. personally ive allways used ali, but thats just personal preference on my part.

depends on what rad mounting plate i use. i have 1 plate that exposes the fans & 1 that exposes the rad instead by putting the fans inside the case.

if you've not bought the case why not just buy something that can take it inside easily like a tj07? no dremmeling and its all inside.

Sounds good but whats the better thermal solution ?

fans inside with rad exposed, i went for outside with fans exposed because i bought some blue UV yate loons by mistake, then decided i liked the way the UV glowed against the walls.

fans exposed ( not as thermally effecient )

Thx Vog ,,your a star matey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gives me a real good idea of what I need to do .

Where would i get someone to cut me up some alloy plate for the box do you think ? All the angle and the rivets I could do myself .

just do it your self matey, it's really not hard at all, just take your time. how ever, if you really don't feel competant doing it, then hit the bay for metal supplies, there are plenty of folk who will cut to size when they supply the material.

1 thing tho, when you choose material for the base plate, make it 3mm minimum, as it cuts down on pump/fan resonance, i also used 3mm again on the end plates for that very same reason. tops & sides i went 1.5mm iirc.

just a casual observation, wouldn't that box be better with some extra ventilation? You're either sucking air out of, or blowing air into a pretty much sealed box. It'll be causing a lot of backflow against the fans. You'd be better off with an intake/exit fan somewhere maybe?
