Apart from Silverstone's own NT06-E, what other coolers have people used and recommend?

Probably looking at a Intel Core 2 8500 Wolfdale CPU, for idea of thermal output. Not decided on other components yet.

Ive got a Sugo Sg01-e case.. i was using the NT06 lite, but then upgraded to the NT06-E when it came out.. There was a tiny drop in temp, but nothing to write home about. Something else i did was to upgrade the fan in the PSU to a higher CFM model to help more with cooling. it is now set to a constant 1600RPM where the standard fan in my Enermax Liberty 620 used to throttle depending on the temperature anywhere from 900rpm - 1200rpm . Does the PSU fan in the SG03 sit above the cpu cooler like in the SG01 ?

Yeah it does.

You can also attach a fan to the bottom of the NT06 if you want, blowing air up into the PSU. It was done in a recent build, and would certainly help cooling a bit.

i had already pondered on this idea, but it looked a bit tight under there, so i never ended up trying it out

Anyone one tried a Enzotech Extreme-X?

Seen one place selling in the UK so far. And even though the height is listed 118mm, that's including fan and shroud.

Forum I found out about this had one poster berate the NT06-E in comparison to the Enzotech model. But need to also remove PSU fan guard to gain the extra mm's for clearance. Success probably depends on PSU model

It looks good but I can only see it at best matching the NT06-E.

Only looked for an alternative as the NT06-E has some complaints on various forums/sites. Ranging for poor cooling performance (maybe related to the reduced weight compared to original NT06), poor QA as received incorrect screws and damaged heatpipes. But NT06-E it is nearly half the price of the Enzotech model.

Just need to find out out how much extra room is provided once PSU fan guard is removed. To allow for the extra height of the Enzotech.

it looks just like my nt06-lite but with copper pipes.

imho the best way to cool the cpu in an SG03 isnt in the heat sink, you could choose any of the 3 mentioned, they will all be crap, unless you have 2 good fans at the front that can shift some air when called upon (the difference between 2 AC 1600rpm fans and 2 Suscool 900rpm fans is asmuch as 12 degrees) and a big fan inside the PSU.

If you want to increase your cooling even more you have 2 options, a 12cm fan will fit behind the dvd drive providing its a short one (this will involve cutting a hole in the top of your case)

Or you can hellimod a 12cm fan to the underneath of a cooler like the nt06.
