The MD of my company called me just after I left work today saying I'm dismissed because someone or people have complained about me. I'm not sure who or why, all I know is I'll be getting a full explanation tomorrow morning. I've also lost 20 days' pay.

Because of the way my job title was worded, and because I have been with the company less than 6 months, it seems I have no rights under employment law. Due to the way the contract was worded, the MD isn't required to give me any notice of termination and I can be dismissed instantly for a whole number of reasons (which I won't go into here).

I honestly have no real idea of what triggered this, and this just tops off the MDs ****-taking throughout the time I was working there. I took on a great deal of responsibility and was trained inadequately throughout, my grievances were completely ignored by both the Operations Manager and MD, despite this I did my best to keep clients happy and explain politely why any problems cropped up.

I will be fighting my corner tomorrow - I don't expect the job back, but perhaps the MD will take away something from this: ie don't treat your staff like ****, train them adequately, respond to grievances and give them the equipment required to do the job.

Oh well, off to the jobcentre it will be after tomorrow morning...

I'd be calling in at the Citizens Advice Bureau too, see what they have to say about it!

Take a copy of your contract if you have one. :)

I was actually going to talk a solicitor anyway because I was tired of the missing job description in the contract allowing the MD to pile on me as much work as he chose to.

Nothing, unfortunately your stuffed really.
employment law doesn't really kick in until you been there a year and most contracts have a trial period where either you or they can terminate.

The only thing is what do you mean by losing pay? If you have worked it they can't hold this back.

I won't get anything for March (ie this month).

You're pretty much stuffed, same thing happened to me last year. Just try to hold your head high and move on

Failing that, go and smash the place up

that they can't do, deff seek advice about this, you are entitled to your pay upto the dismissal. So you should get paid until you get escorted of the property tomorrow.

I won't have a home tomorrow so trashing the office will be the last thing on my mind. I'll be asked to hand over the keys too.

It's the 21st of March today, so you should get 3 weeks pay for March, plus any notice he has to give you.

Nobody rents to unemployed single males under 25.

Mate, if you're renting privately, and it's not linked to the company, and you just got sacked, you are entitled to housing benefit.

Don't advise it personally, but if it gets you through a month or so to find new work (even if it's just a percentage of your rent) then its your lifeline.

Your landlord can't ask you to leave immediately anyway if he finds out, there has to be 1 months notice by either party

He's selling the property so I still have nowhere to go.

That can't be true, you've got family that are alive haven't you? Families are there to help you out in times like these, god I know and am thankful for the support
