Tonight's papers are reporting that we're in for Guilherme Siqueira - a Brazilian LB playing for Granada. Can't say I know anything about him but hopefully he's not as brittle as our last Brazilian LB.

edit: slightly concerned with the lack of updates re Downing. Supposedly he's due for a medical at West Ham tomorrow but there's no mention in any of the rags.

Sky have picked up on the Downing story I broke last night now :o

i doubt there's anything in the bale to united story and i would seriously question moyes and woodward's competency in the transfer market if they waste any more than 2 days pursuing it. would the previous bloke in charge have pursued fabregas? i doubt it. he'd have known it was a non starter.

i doubt united could get the funds in a deal we would want and as attractive a proposition that a deal involving hernandez would be, there are no other united players i'd want from united tbh. just sign fellaini and baines and get on with it. KO is this weekend :p

Have Tottenham overspent this window if Bale doesn't leave?

overspent in a cash in v cash out manner? atm yes

IN - paulinho - 16m
IN chadli - 7m
IN soldado - 26m
IN (tbc) capoue - 8m

OUT - dempsey 6m
OUT - caulker - 8m

the figures are there or there abouts. i expect livermore, hudd and parker to go for probably a combined 10-12m

lewis has injected 50m and then we have the tv money windfall. couple this with the fact we have not really had a high spending transfer window for a while and we're comfortably in control.

gallas and bentley (took a big hit there) are now off the wage books.

I would imagine so. I think maybe that's why Real have gone quiet, they're waiting on Spurs realising they need the Bale money :p

Maybe (this is what my mate thinks) they're waiting for Ronaldo to Man U to be completed before that grab Bale...

I think it's BS but i'd like to see it happen..

lewis has injected 50m.

Got anything to back that up? I find that hugely doubtful.

edit: and Rodgers is quoted as saying he wants to sign a pacey, goalscoring left sided player to allow Coutinho to play centrally. Couple that with Downing's sale and it's obvious he's just trying to keep Pigeon happy.

this is another thing, more far fetched than fabregas to united imo. ronaldo will not go to united. maybe if ferguson was still there (if reports of him being slightly unhappy are true) but i don't know why this and the fabregas rumour spawn when they're very unlikely to happen.

one can tell ronaldo has played in the pl under ferguson by how he is with the media, he is extremely well trained. this doesn't mean there's anything in him saying something which may give an indication he would return to united.

well, not having access to his accounts. no. no one has anything to back it up and tbh it is more of a rumour and assumption that would kind of make sense with how we want to take the club forward and us not having had some serious player investment cash for a few seasons.

Was it reported in Spurs last set of accounts? Has it been reported by any reliable news outlet or is it straight off twitter/forums? I've not seen it reported anywhere.

I find it strange that he's not pumped in money in previous seasons yet the one season that Premier League clubs are cash rich, thanks to the tv deal, you're claiming he's pumped in £50m.

It also goes against Spurs' stance towards FFP. They're one of the clubs that are very big on owners not being able to pump in cash.
the Spuds do the big spend every few seasons, most folks seem to forget the additional 30 million that BT have essentially given clubs too

Spurs typically have spent big in the transfer window that's followed them selling big. The extra tv cash helps but to me it seems like they're already dipping into the Bale money.

Now thats the quality signing aresnal need, i hope wenger can pull it off..

Gustavo is a quality player, would love to him him the the BPL.

Yep i like him, seems to be a decent player and would add some much needed steel in our midfield as Arteta is getting on a bit now.

Im really hoping this signing happens as it will shut up a few of our detractors in here and in the media. Just a shame we have wasted so much time chasing after Suarez that we missed out on other top players.

There is potentially bad news for Arsenal supporters, as German publication Kicker reports that Brazil and Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo favours a switch to Wolfsburg over the north London side.
