So wouldnt he still be training now then? and not really resting as it would be the same as the whole spain thing, Wouldnt it have just been easier giving him an extra months holiday, then bringing him back after the internationals?
Saves him all that travelling etc too.
IMO they get paid to play/train so should never complain there "too tired"
I play a match every week, with the odd occasion of a midweek game, do training once a week as well as 5 a side along with 3 5 mile runs a week and all my fitness does is improve. I dont complain with being too tired, oh and I also work too![]()
AFAIK he came back late, so they did give him extra time off, as say Cesc had for Barca. Though Cesc went to the confed cup and was involved more than Mata in the Euro's the previous summer, he didn't have anything to do with the olympics neither did he have such a long season with as many appearances. He came back late from summer and though his form has been outstanding he actually doesn't look near his peak fitness wise.
From the Chelsea website their preseason tour started on July 17th but Mata wasn't involved till the 1st August, so he's at least 2 weeks behind most of the squad. So we can guess he's actually 3-4 weeks behind the rest of his team and a sensible manager who gives a player an extra month off after a summer tourney usually expects to use that player less when they come back. This has been common for years, people are just ignoring what is common behaviour and hyping up some rumour Mourinho wants rid of Mata.
He might want rid of Mata or be willing to sell him to get someone else he see's as better for the team, but not being that involved early in the season is not at all related.
