He really impressed against us a few seasons ago, obviously I haven't seen him regularly but it's just frustrating that we never seem to take a slight gamble. We always wait until players like Kagawa/Modric etc are at a big club before we pay money for them. Feels like we could have sold the midfield problem a long time ago if we took a gamble and scouted out a prospect.

Where does Chadli play? Doesn't look like they have too many midfielders too me, unless you include the ones below (I have no idea how good/used they are, other than Carroll who played a few Europa games last year, didn't he?)

The BBC suggest they also have Capoue, Townsend, Falque, Carroll, Dawkins, Fredericks and Caballos (I have ignore Bale ;)).

Anyway, I hope paulinho plays every game as he's in my dream team. :D

Pretty much your list, it's a lot for 4 positions!

Chadli plays on the left / attacking through centre, Capoue is a new £9m'ish signing, so imagine he'd have to play a part in the centre. There's a lot of players for 4/5 positions, with Lamela and Eriksen to come!
 
spurs play 4-3-3, so it's 5 midfield/winger slots and 8 players counting townsend i.e. 5 on the pitch and 3 on the bench. that's exactly the number they need ignoring injuries, bans

in reality they could do with a few more since holtby and sig haven't nailed down a starting place and lack of winger options from the bench has been a problem in recent years particularly when lennons injured

anyways, city, chelsea, manu all have plenty of midfielders as well
 
spurs team is very good and was just missing that creativity needed to unlock a back 4 and feed soldado. lamela and (if it goes official) eriksen are capable.

of the signings already made (though i'm not sold on chadli) i have to say, baldini and levy done good!

Cant see us signing any Real players, they dont want to leave unlike a certain Higuain that we should have signed mths ago. Oh well still a few days to go but im fearing the worst now, Wenger will just never EVER learn how to do business efficiently in the transfer window :/. Dont think he can even spot top quality players anymore either, well according to what he thinks is top quality:p.

You must still have £70-80m left to spend too? After all you were buying up all these players with the £50m given by Lewis + the extra TV money, not in preparation for Bale's sale.

we've spent about £80-£85m
our sales so far are about £20m

bale's not sold yet and we are trying to build a new stadium

Aye, I would have thought with Lamela coming in (he's a forward isn't he?) they would try to offload both Defoe and Adebayor. I would imagine Defoe wants to play more as this season will probably be his last hope for more England caps.

Could be worse, Spurs could leave their best midfielder on the bench like Chelsea have (Mata). Having said that they're unbeaten and that's what matters.

chiriches is signing based on some quotes from him and pics of him arriving in the UK, sraight swap for caulker, i assume they've scouted him and think they've got an upgrade

based on the confed cup paulinho is an upgrade on hudd
capoue has been a storming signing so far and replaces parker who's getting old and really didn't bring much the second half of last season
lamela for bale, for a team without champions league i think spurs have done well to get such a good player
chadli and the emergence of townsend means spurs have a winger on the bench for the first time in years, i'm not fussed if either are world beaters, they're wingers and it means i don't have to watch sig/depnsey/holtby try to play there

dempsey out for hopefully some sort of creative mid, he had some key goals at the end of the season but was poor overall and drifted in and out of games, he didn't fit the formation and we did well to get our money back on him, happy to take a punt on erikson, he's relatively cheap given his contract is up in a year though it's a concern no-one else has gone in for him. Anyway seems we'd pay 30m for someone if we thought they were right so i assume there's no-one else around that spurs fancy.

soldado is the much needed striker we needed all last season and they're actively trying to ship Ade out,

anyways, looks like they've tried to upgrade player for player except obviously they're taken a hit on bale, plus one striker and a much needed winger. not too many players at all
 
sig looks like he's going to be loaned out. good move for him and the club if it happens.

holtby isn't a wide player imo. would be best behind the striker. this is the most physical midfield in paulinho, capoue, dembele and sandro that i've ever seen and i though sgt wilson and zokora would take some beating.

We both know Bale's gone and unless something massive happens in the last few days, you'll have spent nothing (in real terms) once the window closes. Just the other week you and a couple of other Spurs fans seemed certain that your massive spending wasn't linked to the impending sale of Bale and it was Lewis backing AVB to make a big push.

The new extra tv money will be taken up by a significant jump in your wagebill though I suppose. No sign of this supposed £50m + whatever Spurs could/would have spent had Bale not bee sold though.

With having that cover on the left wing, I know I have said it before but I really am hoping that Holtby gets a go in his proper position as an attacking midfielder.

As for the too many midfielders comment, at least we have cover for all of our main positions, as opposed to 6 players for one place. I really don't know what is happening with the Ade situation, last I heard he was injured and we're trying to get rid but deep down I do feel a bit sorry for him and what's happened.

The Bale money would have nearly all been spent on Willian/Lamela/Eriksen and maybe one other (Hulk the obvious choice) so as it stands, I would say Levy has been pretty savvy on the financial side of things.

I should have been clearer. I wasn't commenting on the rights and wrongs of Spurs transfer dealings. It was a not so subtle dig at cm believing and reporting a bs rumour as fact.
