To a degree, yea. We took a bit of a gamble on Coutinho but I think the difference there was that Coutinho's ability was never in question. The issue with Coutinho was whether he'd adapt physically given that he struggled with that in Italy. Eriksen on the other hand seems to be lacking a spark; he's a tidy player that hasn't seemed to kick on.
He really impressed against us a few seasons ago, obviously I haven't seen him regularly but it's just frustrating that we never seem to take a slight gamble. We always wait until players like Kagawa/Modric etc are at a big club before we pay money for them. Feels like we could have sold the midfield problem a long time ago if we took a gamble and scouted out a prospect.
