Let's be honest, our window has been totally mismanaged right from the outset. Wenger hinted at the fact that he needed to wait until we were guaranteed passage into the group stages before looking for players, despite contradicting himself with the bids for Suarez and Higuain much earlier on.

We've had loads of time to get players in, and in my opinion the buck stops with Arsene seeing as we don't have a director of football or anybody who supersedes Wenger when it comes to transfer business. Gazidis has already mentioned we have considerable funds if needed, therefore the ball has well and truly been in Arsene's court all summer.

We always hear the "top, top quality" line which he likes to roll out on a regular basis, yet there isn't a single area of our squad which couldn't be improved. Now that Podolski is injured we have one striker and an injury prone French kid from Ligue 2, we are now short on both flanks with the injuries to Chamberlain and Podolski too.

I know Wenger likes to have the likes of Theo play up front, play Cazorla and Ramsey on the wing, play Sagna at CB and then say we don't need players due to the perceived versatility of the players we have, but when those players are filling in they are leaving their natural position short of numbers. The other day against Fenerbahce all four of our full backs were playing at the same time, and that's just one example of something which has been happening for years.

I've said before I'll judge him when the window closes but so far the way it has been handled is nothing short of an embarrassment.

Higuian's dad said Arsenal never actually put in an official offer.

I thought he also said we were close to signing him, or that's what I read in a Sky article anyway. The Suarez thing still makes the point stand though. Arsene said after the Fenerbahce game that his transfer window starts now, when the club's actions contradict that entirely. Not to mention, the fact that his transfer window should've been open the same time as everybody else's. :p

Spurs are basically going all or bust for the champions league this season. Dangerous game.

Arsenal do have a good squad but it can not compete in 4 conpetitions. Wenger should really make a bid for Torres and Mata. I can see Torres thriving anywhere but Chelsea.

Should've gone back to AM for a cut price of 30m~. David Villa and Torres would make a decent striker partnership.

.

I'd disagree with that , at worst all they have done is spent the money incoming from Bale and touch more. As for the wages spurs will never pay massive wages (a relative term).

Granted they have signed some good players but they have lost 1 VERY good player.

Certainly an exciting time to be a Spurs fan:cool:

So, turns out then that Spurs WILL have a better squad for selling Bale.

They have brought some excellent players in, who would have thought it.

Apologies on a postcard.

Very well said. Exactly what I've been saying all this time:cool:

De Boer confirmed Eriksen is on his way to Spurs. If this is the case, a lot seems to be riding on him. He is the player of guile we have brought in since Modric and VDV left. Our other signings have been direct and physical but not lock pickers. I hope Eriksen can produce his best quickly because we will have a very exciting lineup if that is the case.

As Killswitch said, this year will be a year of transition and I don't expect the team to be fully effective until later in the season but assuming any star performers don't leave at the end of this season, this squad looks in great shape for the future.

I am delighted we haven't been bled dry by Willian and his agent. The Lamela saga seems to have been a much more traditional affair which bodes much better for his future at Spurs. I am surprised Arsenal/Man Utd have not snaffled him from under our noses though.

Assuming it actually comes off, I'm excited to see what we can do with Eriksen pulling the strings - two footed, skillful and a bit of a deadball specialist (finally someone to take corners!).

@OptaJoe: 138 - The 138 chances that Eriksen created in the Eredivisie last season were more than any player in the top 5 European leagues. Pedigree.

nice!

All in all, its been a crazy transfer window for spurs - best buy of all so far is Baldini though

12m euros, plus another 500k if Spurs qualify for the Champion's League, according to De Telegraaf. Absolute bargain for Eriksen.

We'll soon beat that quality out of him, everyone knows that Spurs are rubbish at corners so we don't need anyone rocking the boat :p. This is similar to our free-kick taking, we had Bale to do it, however Siggy used to be fantastic at it but we soon put a stop to that :(.

The number of times we had been linked with Eriksen (much like Damiao) I thought that nothing was ever to come of it but by the looks of things, something could actually happen.

Eriksen can leave on a free soon, hense why the price is so low as he said he didn't want a new contract when he was trying to get his move (flirting) to Borussia Dortmund.

I seriously wonder what is going on at United at times. How have we just not bothered with out midfield for about 5 years now. We have known that Scholes and Giggs are getting towards the end of their careers and that we haven't got much else there and yet we just watch as player after player joins smaller teams than us for what is not huge money.

I understand that we haven't suffered too much for it but look at every other world class team and their transfer policy. Bayern have just had a stunning season and what do they do. Buy 2 of the best young midfielders in the world and pretty much wrap up Lewandowski. This can only be because of the debt that we have / are servicing for the ****** glazers. We just seem to do the minimum required to win the league then hope that we get somewhere in Europe knowing full well that we don't have a popsicles chance in hell of winning the CL.
