I seriously wonder what is going on at United at times. How have we just not bothered with out midfield for about 5 years now. We have known that Scholes and Giggs are getting towards the end of their careers and that we haven't got much else there and yet we just watch as player after player joins smaller teams than us for what is not huge money.

I understand that we haven't suffered too much for it but look at every other world class team and their transfer policy. Bayern have just had a stunning season and what do they do. Buy 2 of the best young midfielders in the world and pretty much wrap up Lewandowski. This can only be because of the debt that we have / are servicing for the ****** glazers. We just seem to do the minimum required to win the league then hope that we get somewhere in Europe knowing full well that we don't have a popsicles chance in hell of winning the CL.

Ferguson was stubborn, it seems Moyes and Woodward are just inept.

The only good thing that will come from this is one or both will be quickly removed from their post if we drop off the pace.

People say United give managers time, this isnt the 70s or 80's, this is now with the club being owned by successful business men, they wont tolerate failure and will dip into their pockets if thats what is needed to keep making money.

And to them, making money comes from winning things, you dont keep the sponsors or the TV revenue or attract decent players by being top 4 unless you have a massive influx of cash like Spuds have done.

Some sign of intelligent life at Utd would help, do they think we have another month?

I just know we're going to just get Baines and Fellaini and overspend ridiculously, £50m for the pair?

For the love of god can LFC at least sign someone of any merit without going, "ooo we think he's priced too high".

FFS, it's getting boring now.

Eriksen would have been the ideal replacement for Cabaye.

Missed the boat there Ashley & Co.

Quelle surprise.

With Chelsea and Spurs signing everything that moves, we must be able to get a loan from them, surely? Lukaku, Ba, Sigurdsson, etc.

I just...we need someone...please...

sig will be loaned out but apparently he's going to germany. a loan spell at newcastle would do him the world of good and he'd certainly help.

This has to be one of our worst transfer windows in living memory.

We have seen over a dozen players move who would have improved our team and not bid or bid enough for any of them.

Instead we are content to play welbeck who I could probably name 100 players better than he. Phil jones at right back. Instead we offer for two players with virtually no European experience. I just don't get it.

Chelsea want £3m to loan Ba or £10m to buy.

Both ridiculous figures IMHO.

Liverpool in for three CBs apparently, Ilori, Sakho and Alderweireld. Not sure if we really want three or just two of those three. Possible that Ilori is one for the future and will ultimately replace Coates when hes back from injury and can be moved on. That would leave us replacing Skrtel and bringing in one extra body.

Really? Ba had 29 goals in 54 games for Newcastle and hasn't had too much of a chance at Chelsea. £10m is a steal really for a PL proven forward with those stats.

Its not that , as the servicing has recently been reduced to approx £20m a season. Given that Utd are generating £100m + from martketing etc not to mention what the club got for winning the EPL and the group stage of CL etc.

There is plenty of cash available, but they just dont know how / who to focus on properly (ie without submitting stupid offers that will never be accepted)

I just fear that Fergie has spoken to Moyes about certain players and the team in general and how good it is and Moyes is too scared to tell him to do one and actually splash the cash.

The Fabregas affair was just retarded. All of us were saying "he will never come but there must be something to suggest to United that they can get him". Turns out we were just being idiotic. Even if they did want to sell, none of our bids would have got him. Oh, that and the fact that the club, manager and the player himself all said that there was no chance of it happening.

We can see what has happened to Liverpool with a single off season so I don't particularly want to put ourselves in a position where we have retarded management that is required to pull us back up. If we can't do it now as PL champions I doubt it will get easier if we are not.

Yes, bring back those Carrol and Downing windows!

Simple fact is putting money to one side: the players we are attracted to, are also being courted by other clubs who have more to offer.

Yeah, I know that we are not paying anything like what we were but that is what the repayments are now. We have probably spent well over a hundred million servicing that debt which is quite frankly ridiculous. This is why I love the financial industry. How the hell can you buy a club and then saddle it with the debt from the purchase.

Scratch that.

Between 2006 and 2011 the accounts show net interest payments of £253 million.

Peak debt, according to Andy Green, was around £500 million and has been reduced by about £100 million. All of the financial transactions have been very costly, involving big fees for bankers, etc. so a conservative estimate might be £500 million that the club otherwise have had.

.

I agree the bid amounts themselves were stupid - but I still think Utd were given encouragement behind the scenes (whatever CF is saying in public).

edit - I didnt know exact figures but yes Im aware of the cash its cost over the years, those figures dont really surprise me. I actually thought a lot more of the debt had been paid off, but £300m odd still remain.

Makes for an interesting read

Thats the problem though. Even if we had something to suggest we might be able to get him, our offers were taking the pee so what was the point. If we don't come in the top 3 this year and do well in the CL the fans with turn on Moyes and the club and we will be in all sorts of trouble. I just can't fathom what on earth we are doing.

From what I have seen of us so far, we won't have that problem hopefully but it makes no sense to push our luck when we don't need to.

Tottenham have spent well and could be contenders for the same positions as United and they could conceivably spend again next summer along with the inevitable Chelsea and City spending sprees. I just don't get it at all.

Any thoughts on what our plan is?
