Had the same conversation about torres. I'm not sure about him, as at liverpool he was class. Chelsea the expectation to be better was too much among other things i think. But you never know then again.

Yes I hope its done soon!!! think its a great deal if/when it happens!

I don't know about that, we have Kagawa who plays in the same position and he can't get a game.

We need a CM, not a CAM, they aren't the same thing. I wouldn't have complained though, unlike DM, I actually think Ozil is really good.

More to do with a players perceived ability rather than his position I feel...

Are we going to play him left wing, in which case no Podolski, is Wenger going to drop Walcott, his little love child who can do no wrong and play him right wing, is he going to drop Cazorla, or is he going to drop Ramsey? I genuinely don't know, as with Monreal a sensible manager I wouldn't have much issue with signing him, Wenger. I think he'll do something stupid, play Ozil in his weaker position out wide or drop the wrong player in the middle.

Ultimately with crap fullbacks, half a fit CB and a single senior striker, we seem to be trying to sign a player for whom Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshire, Cazorla, Diaby, Zelalem all want to play in the same position.

Of all the places to spend all our money on one player, it shouldn't be the only position we've got absolutely covered. For the record I'd love Ozil(though for less, especially as Real Madrid are desperate to get rid to make space for Bale, think of Sneijder and VDV being pawned off to make room at bargain prices, why are Arsenal smashing their transfer record when Real are trying to do the same thing?), and I'd instantly and happily never play WAlcott ever again and play Ozil wide right(because he's better wide than Cazorla who is pretty crap on the wing).

My problem as I said with Monreal is I know he's a better player than what we have, but Wenger doing something retarded, like dropping Monreal for a LB who can't defend, is standard.

Quality of squad ISN'T the reason we haven't won anything, Wenger is. With Ozil this squad would be massively weaker than the squad we had from 2005-2009... when we couldn't win anything because of the mistakes Wenger makes no matter how good the squad is. My general belief is he'll play Ozil in the middle and waste Cazorla wide left, and push Podolski out of the team as he was doing end of last season, beginning of this season, like he did to Arshavin. Podolski left, Ozil right, Santi/Wilshire/Ramsey midfield would be a massive improvement. What I suspect is Santi left, Walcott right, Ozil/Wilshire/Ramsey in the middle, isn't much of an improvement because Santi has been utterly ineffective on the wing.

Trust you to put a downer on a big signing. Yeah it's quite obvious to even non arsenal fans that we don't need the players in that position but we are no longer in the elite clubs that can attract the ready made class players.

Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshire, Cazorla, Diaby, Zelalem. Out of those fighting for the same position, rosicky, diaby and Wilshere are injury worries. Zelalem is young. Cazorla is the only dependable player, Ramsey might be as his were freak injuries. At the end of the day signing ozil will only improve us.

Put a fake smile on for the other fans in here for one day :p

Not sure when he has shown that. Look, be honest with yourself, we signed him due to his racial profile and low cost. We had just sold park and needed some marketing candy for our far east tours and fans.
 
It sounds like we're just focused on trying to get Fellaini as cheap as possible... Oh well. :p

I think CB we should be ok except numbers. Mert and kos had one of the best partnerships last year. We just lack depth. Williams would be good, experienced in EPL.

Even up front we could rotate with giroud, pod and Walcott and French kid.

Let's see what the day brings.
 
The sad acceptance is sinking in. Missing out on top 4 would probably be accepted if we had the semblance of a great team and just needed some time but its quite unforgivable to just not bother to strengthen the side in light of other teams transfer activity.
 
Like I said yesterday I'd give moyes 24 hours to sort this debacle before starting tge moyes out hate. Losing to Liverpool wae almost the last straw but a terrible climax to the transfer window would be unforgiveable.

I'd be happy with one good signing anything else is a bonus.

You should be able to spot arsenal fans around town today, they will be the ones with puzzled looks on theirs faces.
