As in the QPR goalkeeper? :/

EDIT: On Suarez I thought Baz talking 40m for him was insane, 50m though is just certifiable

Yep. But we'll ignore last season. I think he realises that was now a mistake. We'll just go from IM to Arsenal. Much more impressive that way.

With a fair few others going this summer, we could be looking at £100m+ to spend and a very different looking squad this September compared to last.

Let's hope they spend it better than the last time you got 50m for a player and had 100m to spend :p

100m spent wisely you are looking good for 6th next year.

Personally never seen 'it' in Cesar but he's had a pretty impressive career, excluding last year, so must be okay. Will he be first choice for a year whilst they teach Chezzny to catch?

Chesney has been a bit of a knob hasn't he?

Cesar had a great season I thought, looked a damn fine keeper still, great signing for Arsenal, cheap, low risk.

We don't have Camolli or Dalglish this time, more of a committee by all accounts using the details provided by the man city scouts we pinched.

We can't **** up another big spend surely?!

But....but...Tixi, Pellegrini.....
I didn't realize he had signed for Real Madrid officially.

Txiki gives us a more experienced and shrewd operator in footballing terms compared to Marwood. He will certainly have more contacts and clout in Spain than anywhere else though.

Until Thiago leaves or doesn't I still believe we have the upper hand over other clubs, certainly if he want's to leave Spain.

Not really, he had a dip in form, got dropped for a few weeks and came back playing well again. I think Cesar is a bit of a strange signing tbh, I'd prefer Sczeszny over Cesar now.

Why do you think that?

We already had four strikers and the board never would have authorized a move for RvP unless we had sold at least one of them. It became pretty clear that he wasn't going to sign for us after it dragged out for so long.

If we were going to sign him it would have been done early which makes me think the club weren't that bothered in signing him.
The club put a lot more effort into Hazard like we did with Sanchez but again the move blew up.

Ah brilliant, he didn't sign so your response is 'didn't want him anyway' :o

Mancini has already numerous times made it obvious he desperately wanted to sign RVP but the fact is the player was never interested

I never said I didn't want him but what I am saying is that the chances of us signing him were always low because we already had four strikers all on huge wages who didn't get enough game time as it is.

We didn't seem to be actively looking to sell any of them also hence why I said the CLUB weren't that interested in RvP.
If they were I think we would have shipped out Balotelli and Dzeko and moved heaven and earth to get RvP as we had done in the past for players. Of course I may be wrong and the club desperately wanted him but we couldn't get a deal done.

Mancini desperately wanted him, he wanted a lot of things.
I am not disputing the fact that Mancini wanted him.

I can't understand why you have turned this around from me saying how we have the best chance of getting Thiago for many reasons to I bet you thought the same about RvP when they are completely different situations.

If we had David Dein in charge and had sacked Mancini for Wenger last year and RvP was available I would agree. We would on paper have the best chance of signing RvP because of those reasons. But we didn't.

Surely you can understand why I think we have the best chance of signing Thiago? you may not agree but you can surely see what I am saying?

It is like when utd used to have the best chance of signing players because of Ferguson because of how good he is as a manager.

I believe we have the best chance of signing Thiago because we have the management in place at all levels who know him well and also the squad of players we have are a big lure for players as well as being able to offer him what he wants.

Cesar to Arsenal a done deal.

2 year contract according to Sky Italia.

Really??? surprised about that as from what i have read it was a rumour. Brilliant goalkeeper though, made some fine saves for QPR this season and better still hes Brazilian so instant like from me:p.

Wonder how much we paid for him in the end, hopefully not too much and i hope we arent paying stupid wages as hes pretty old now.

When did Mancini desperately want rvp and rvp make it clear he wasn't interested?

Also Cesar is a great signing for Arsenal

Because Biz it doesn't matter who the player is you're 9 times out of 10 convinced City have the best chance of signing him, this despite the club finishing 11 points behind the Champions, failing to win a single game in the Champions League and going out at the group stage again and currently mangerless. IIRC we had the exact same thing out of you a couple of summers back with Sanchez despite him being another player who made it quite clear he had no intention of even entertaining your offers

When did Mancini desperately want rvp and rvp make it clear he wasn't interested?

You're starting to be as boring as Moses with your questions Purdy, just google Mancini RVP and RVP Man City and you'll find the quotes from both parties

(I bet I can guess what your reply to this will be)

I'm still a bit cautious about the Cesar deal, I haven't actually read anything concrete saying he has signed so for the time being I'm just assuming it's a rumour more than anything else. As much as we need an experienced keeper to teach Szczesny should that not be the job of the goalkeeping coaches at the club? I'm not sure who our coach in that department is at the moment, last time I checked it was Gerry Peyton, if he's not up to it then surely we could bring some ex-players in to take goalkeeping training sessions, Seaman, Lehmann maybe?

As far as other transfers go Sky are going with some quotes from Clement Grenier, I have no idea what he's like as a player, never seen him play but the Lyon coach doesn't really want to let him go so I'm guessing he's half decent.

"I have more or less made a decision about which club I want to join," said Grenier.

"I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all. Arsenal? It could well be them.

"There would be competition for places, but you get that at all big clubs and it does not stop me making my decision.

"I am still young, but I have always set myself targets and I do everything possible to exceed them."

Like I said I have no idea what he's actually like, we could do with another creative player, it'll give Cazorla a break and Wilshere's fitness problems could become a problem if he continues to pick up injuries.
